Overall the book i see increasing the most for the short term is Fantastic Four 52.
I think the price movement on FF52 already has the speculation priced in. Wont move much unless we get real news on panther appearing in a movie or tv show. Same goes for Avengers 57.

I just upgraded to a FF52 9.2 and pretty much paid a premium when I should have pulled the trigger last year

I really don't know how prices work at all hah. Because at the beginning of summer everyone was talking about FF #52, but I was still buying up copies for fairly cheap. They doubled over summer.

And a few of us have been talking about NM Annual 2 for months. All of the sudden the past week or two there has been a huge spree on it. No news at all though. It's so weird.

Quite possibly some of the best investments could be $1k worth of EoW #1 or $1k worth of Walking Dead #108

What do you all think of X-Men 4? 1st Scarlet Witch and 1st Quicksilver

I have a FF52 already, as well as a sweet NM Annual 2. I picked up a Star Wars 1 9.8 (because I love Star Wars).

I think I've decided to try and buy the 1st appearances of all the X-Men heroes/villains. That way my collection is focused on something I like as opposed to running ragged trying to snatch up the next big thing.

Walking Dead #108 and Saga #6 are going to both steadily climb for a long time due to their key first appearances. With what Hazel revealed #14 will have Marko's mother as a key figure in the series for a long time, and Saga can easily go 50 to 100 issues as expansive as its universe is and with what we know from Hazel's long-term narration. Saga #1 RRP is going to be a cult-like book for at least a decade; there is even a Saga #1 RRP "owner's club" on the CGC boards. I think it has dipped a little in the last few months, there is a near $1000 book as a CGC 9.8 SS that is a great investment IMO.

And yes, others have mentioned, X-Men 129 is a very, very undervalued book. I already have three at my shop, just bought another on ebay yesterday. First appearance of two of the top 10 female characters in the entire comic book universe, and if you've ever read X-Men Days of Future Past, the main character is Kitty Pride. Ellen Page will become America's new Sweetheart after the new movie, so watch #129 triple in the next year.

That would be my pick if you just wanted to grab one book for the price.
This is my top choice!

Giant Size Xmen #1
Hulk 181

Ended up going with a good looking X-Men 4. That book has a LOT of room to grow I think, especially with Quicksilver in both the upcoming X-Men and Avengers movies. 2nd appearance of Magneto also.

Lets keep this discussion up though. Now as far as really expensive X-Men keys I need IH 181, GSXM1, X-Men 94, not to mention X-Men 1-12.

Let the games begin!

I think all choices above are solid bets. However, I would love to dive deeper within these suggestions and their relative merits.

Would love to hear about the 'whys' i.e. the logic for your choice. I understand movie appearances play a part but even within that, there are books become much more valuable than others i.e. IM55 vs Strange Tales 180.

So, it will be educational to understand some of the factors affecting these differences. On top of my mind:

- scarcity of the issue
- fan base of character
- sole movie vs team appearance
- potential to be mass market etc

If we pass the above book suggestions through each of the filters, we might have a more definite list of which books will 'explode' in value, relative to others.

Just looking around at various sites and all of the following are options for investment books at or around 1K

X-Men 1 - CGC 3 (C/OW)
Fantastic Four 2 - CGC 5.0 (C/OW)
Fantastic Four 5 - CGC 4.0 (OW/W) - 1st Doctor Doom
Giant Size X-Men 1 - CGC 9.0 (OW/W)
Daredevil 1 - CGC 5.5 (OW/W)

UPDATE
Add Strange Tales 110 CGC 4.0 (OW) and Avengers 4 (C/OW) to the list
Bone CGC 9.4 - White also

This is a good list, and while I agree that FF 67 is a good book to purchase, I believe Thor 165 is going to be the book to buy if Warlock ever blows up. Also, I'm not sure.

I think Nova 1 is absolutely undervalued

I really think in the end of Avengers 2 or Avengers 3 they are going to ask Daredevil to join and he is going to say no just like in the comic books. And that is going to start the Daredevil franchise.

If you can find a TMNT #1 first for $1,000, that's your best bet. Good luck finding one for $1,000, though.

That thing is going to keep appreciating.
