Fully agreed!. That cover sucks big time.
I always like 129 (2nd appearance) and 143(origin) better but the market has already decided which is the more important issue.

Next deadpool? Questionable, especially adam warlock. You really think a character like that has mass appeal?
In the beginning nobody really liked deadpool on its release either. It just caught up with the times on how they built the character.

Adam Warlock is a key character in the IG series. I still believe that with all these phases marvel is launching the end product will be IG.

I see standalone movies on Warlock and Nova.

*also to take in consideration both have black cover backgrounds (makes it harder to get in higher grades) - thor 165 is harder of the 2

He speaks French. The point is not where he is from or that he would popular because he is French. I'd say point against you for not seeing humor in the obviously joking "french frys" comment and another for sharing logic with the part of America the world hates. No one will care he is French. The world hates Americans and our franchises seem to do well.

I'm gonna throw some love for Gambit. As long as he gets done right one day, he will regain popularity. His number one super power is Cajun Charm!. You can still find VF-NM copies from $30-50.

It won't be for long. A 9.8 just hit $200 the other day.

As long as they get the right actress(Katee Sackhoff) and the right writer, I think she has the chance of being a strong solo character in the marvel universe.

In all seriousness I think Cable has a good shot at seeing a price rise. He's teamed up with Deadpool before which I found to be a really good comic.

He is from the south and speaks French. Is that a double whammy for hate? I kid. I like Gambit but hate how he wears spandex under a trench coat. It's a combo of two creepy things.

I have been watching 266 for a long time and $200 is actually a decline in prices. During summer, this issue was fetching $250 but prices have slide downwards since then. In fact, I bought one as a birthday treat in Jan and it cost me $220.

Great comments so far.

Here is what I have observed about the current crop of super popular characters. They seems to fall into 2 groups

Silent, dark and violent: Wolverine, Batman, Hulk, Thanos
Funny and weird: Deadpool, Spiderman, Harley, Loki, Tony Stark

The clean image types such as superman and captain america in general doesn't seems to do so well. I think Ms Marvel falls into this group.

As for adam warlock, I have no doubt thor 165 will appreciate if there is a IG movie. Again, this thread is not about predicting which issue will appreciate due to movies. It is about predicting the next character that will have mass appeal and I still disagree that Warlock is character that most will love. Those that grew up in the 90s like me will love him to death but not the rest.

If I put the nominations into the 2 categories, this is how I see things:

Silent, dark and violent: Cable
Funny and weird: Rocket

Guys like nightwing, gambit and fantomex doesn't fit into the above nicely so I am probably missing some important category.

Cable would rock in a movie / tv show if done right.
