I do like Campbell's stuff, but why do all his females have to have the chipmunk noses?

The fact that this variant is skyrocketing is slightly baffling to me. Yes, its JSC and Black Cat, but it is a 1:50 for a book that will have at least a 90,000 print run. That is 1,800 copies of this variant.

Perhaps the JSC cover is enough to draw that type of heat?

The #678 MJ/Venom variant cover was also a 1:50, but with a 55,000 print run, meaning around 1,100 copies of that cover were released. Do you think it is possible that the JSC cover will attract the same type of value?

It's hard to say for sure, but his track record and fan base makes me feel better siding with trying to be on the winning side with this one.

If anyone has the opportunity to pick one of these and wants to sell it to me let me know, don't need a graded copy, sorry to hijack the thread, just didn't want to start another one. Let me know if anyone runs across one and wants to sell it

Nobody here in Oklahoma ordered enough to get the variant, I tried OKC and Tulsa with no luck, asked last week if they could order me one and nobody would. Not going to pay a 100 bucks on ebay. Congrats on those who got them or will get them tomorrow, cool looking book, with a big story apparently

Don't forget to check you're LCS. I picked mine up for 10$ along with the Spider-man special JSC variant. This perticular shops sells all theyr variants at 10 bucks though, i think the only one I saw over that was the ASM 700 Ditko one at 150$...

My girlfriend is on vacation in Ohio. She check four shops over there for me and still nothing. Congrats to the lucky few.

I was a little disappointed with mislabeling over at Midtown. I wanted to get in early and grab a few extra's from them, but that last minute change on the artist's name made everyone jump in at the same time.

I found an a SSM JSC Variant at one of my lcs, it was a decent penny, but I couldnt pass it up because the condition was just beyond satisfactory. If I do decide to the expo this weekend, expect it to have some scribble on there by the man himself for an SS CGC.

I am starting to think that the print run of this book is smaller than I anticipated. Either that, or everyone is holding onto/submitting their copies. Listings on the bay have been under 20 for a couple of days now and the auction prices are creeping up.

Interrrrrresting......

I noticed the relatively low volume of SSM 20 Campbell variants available, as well. Any chance that orders for this issue were lower than they would have been due to the initial confusion over which artist was doing the cover for the 1:50 variant?

There was no confusion about who was doing the variant.... Campbell was always doing the variant. Only Midtown had an error and it was for less than a day but the variant qty is based on orders of the base issue anyway.

His Superior #22 will be even harder to get as more people are aware of it. As will his Black Widow #1 variant, which also has a sketch version.

LOL.....I just created a thread for this...
wonder how many LCS and/or online shops will jack up the price knowing what happened with SS #20.

Campbell variants are not "rare," by any stretch. However, they are sought after. Midtown is always doing a Campbell variant. IMO, the SSM 20 variant was special due to the fact that it has Black Cat and, from what I know, there was no mention of Campbell doing the variant in the Previews mag. I could be wrong about that, but my LCS did not even know about the Campbell till i mentioned it about a month before release.

The variant was originally solicited in Previews as being done by Manara.
