I don't know Morgoth the series has been ordered for the entire season, its Guillermo del Toro, and it had its own frickin Superbowl commercial. If that is not awesome I don't know what is.

They're putting major $$$ and promotion behind it. If it sucks, so be it, but it's been able to carry a comic, and then another with The Fall.

on a scale of 1-10 how sad is it that I can recall that whole scene in my head just based on one damn picture?

somewhere around 38 maybe?

*edit* even managed to find the scene, hahaha

I can go a step further and turn it up a notch. His friend setup Quark in order to lure out his old partners that where looking for the gold laced Latium. Once they were all killed or caught as he faked his own death, he has been hiding the Latium in his second stomach. Hence the reason his hair had fell out due to Latium poisoning. So Quark did end up with something. All this from one picture honest! DS9 is one of my favorite shows.

I just don't know about moderns anymore. I thought about getting this comic but I will wait until the first episode to see if it is worth it. I haven't been too happy with moderns which is why I have been getting the classics. I was in a huge binge of buying chew, thief of thieves, saga, etc. Now I think I am done with moderns

Didn't it start with a book not a comic? Anyway it's like the walking dead, wo the changes for tv like adding Daryl and his bro it may have not worked. Those changes will make or break it

I am not usually jumping on things lately, but Del Toro behind this. It will be a cult hit, might not be a general pop hit..I am glad I got in on the strain grading list.

If I were to bet raw #1's will be 100 + around the time of the show. It will be a hit and the pilot was directed by Del Toro himself. The season is ordered in full. This doesn't happen on regular networks so FX sniffs a big time hit. I'd wait if I were you.

you talking about the variants here or the regular covers? cause you can still pick the base cover off on ebay for 25 and under.

The variant of #1 for sure but even the regular #1 have the potential in for NM raw values getting that high. Both have a black cover, were a dollar comic in 2011 and regular (16 K) wasn't heavily printed - the variant was around 3200 (this one will fetch more for sure)

well variants are already hitting 60-70 so that's not that much of a reach if the show is a hit, but i don't see the base covers ever hitting a hundo plus unless this gets walking dead type numbers. del toro is just directing the pilot and producing, this could still end up flopping. yes he's a household name in geek circles, but not so much in mainstream. this show could very easily not find a audience, not to mention the vampire craze is dying out.

this formula is very similar to whedon and shield. everyone thought shield was a homerun cause whedon was so heavily involved, from the concept to directing the 1st episode also, and whedon and marvel carry a much bigger fanbase to boot. now the show is struggling, and being completely re-spun and retooled to try and gain traction and find a audience.

i would be advise anyone holding to be wary and always sell the sizzle, not the steak with this comic. if you can turn a buck or two into 30 right now take the money and run.

And I disagree because this is not your typical vampire story.
1. These are not your typical vampires (they are spread by a virus) and do not need to mate / seduce like typical vampire stories.
2. These creatures cannot pass for humans, they are ugly, have lost their hair and skin pigments, have deformed bodies and hands. Plus they have giant talon 6 foot spikes that come out of their mouths to infect and feed. Also while they feed their rear ends explode.
3. FX has made good tv shows and American Horror Story is a big hit for them. This show will couple that very nicely.
4. The cast is amazing and can act. These are not rookie newcomers that have no experience. Sean Astin is a big deal and he was so excited reading his pilot information he said he jumped out of his chair.
5. Its no aimed at teenagers. This is a dark story and doesn't have anything to do with the vampire seduction everyone knows of. Aka twilight, buffy, dracula, etc.
6. FX didn't just order a pilot to test and wait and see how the demographics would pan out then order a few more episodes and repeat all over again. They ordered 13 episodes before the pilot has even aired.
7. FX ran a Superbowl teaser trailer. That was expensive.

Continue to think this is going to be a bad show. I for one think its going to do really well.

Small bit of news, with some casting photos

https://tv.yahoo.com/blogs/tv-news/f...232717429.html

#1 seems to be holding around 20-30 bucks on ebay, but its getting harder and harder to find issues 2-4. I wonder if the show is a success if issues 2, 3 and 4 will jump up much.. I bet the print run was lower on 2-4 than #1.
