I'm simply IN SHOCK at this. And no, wasn't my sale.

The Strain 1 CGC 9 8 Guillermo Del Toro Hot New Show on FX | eBay

Wow, dig for these guys, they are out there. I just found 5 #1's this past weekend. I am still looking for a 9.8 candidate for the variant tho.

and for those around hastings, you can still find them too:

There is no way in he'll I believe that was a real sale. If it was why would 9.8s of the variants still be sitting on the bay for under 300 bucks? Price pumping at its finest.

In all honesty, I didn't even look at the bidding history, or anything on that. Just saw them talking about that sale on the cgc boards. Plus I'm on cloud 9 to just finding any scores like I did this past week lol.

Looks like people in Austin Texas will be able to see Episode #1 in June..

Guillermo del Toro's 'The Strain' World Premiere to Close Out the ATX Television Festival | Filmmakers, Film Industry, Film Festivals, Awards & Movie Reviews | Indiewire

Anyone from here live out there and going? If so let us know how good (or bad) it is!

Looks awesome! Wish I had a few, I alway look to the old too much and never look at the new. My loss. :-(

I bought Strain the Fall but haven't read it yet because I didn't want to start in the middle. I'm really excited to see it. It looks very well made.

Question: Are the comics adaptations of the books, or are they spin-offs??
Sorry if this has been asked/answered before...

The comics are adaptations of the books. The first book is covered in the first series The Strain the second book is the second series The Fall and the third book The Night Eternal will be covered in the next Strain series of comics coming out in a few months I think. I'm not sure if he plans on writing any more books but my guess would be since it was picked up for TV he probably has a couple more planned.
