My 1st convention of 2014 (review)
Just got back from #ATLcomiccon
Atlanta has a 1day comic convention 4x a year.
This one: Atlanta Comic Convention
Yesterday (SuperBowl Sunday, ack) was it's 20th Anniversary.
You got a tshirt with paid admission. Cool deal.
They also had a table of flyers & free swag.
Picked up some Divergent pins:
It was 1large room in a Hotel with 25-30 vendors.
1Vendor was vintage action figures, 1Table was Sci-Fi books, but the rest was pretty much comics.
No joke -- first person i bump into was Bob Burden.
He was just shopping & chatting with one of the big time Vendors.
(They were old friends).
Bob is great to his fans. Go look him up!
They had an 'artists alley' of local guys.
Mark Wright was there. Again, super guy.
He had prints of local celebrities you could get signed:
By local celebrities, i mean: Michonne's Pets from TWD.
The two boys on the left (horrible photo).
They wanted $20 each auto, so i passed this time, but probably worth it.
You dont see their autos often.
Bicycle Girl Zombie was also set-up.
You wanna see books?
Heroes Arent Hard To Find (HeroesCon) & Shelton Drum were set up.
They had the most tables (maybe 5 or 6)?
Watching him wheel & deal the big time books was crazy.
Summary: I've been going to Comic Conventions for 25 years, the biggest difference attending this one is the shift away from $0.25 books & blowing-out boxes of garbage. Most people had nice stuff & Silver Age. There were at least 4 vendors with tables of $2.00 books (stuff this is more desirable that 1990's Image garbage). It was a LOT of fun & work to dig because everything was copper, bronze, or more interesting than usual. The problem is that there were no STEALS. Everyone knew what they had. Yes, i saw 3 mint copies of SpiderMan #265 with the first Silver Sable, they were $10 each. Yes, i saw 2 copies of Harley Quinn #3 with the Pillow Fight cover, they were $10 each. Tons of current hot books, but none were accidentally left in the $2.00 bins. -- Good times. I'll be back.
Wonder what i picked up?
I'll post that soon.
