I personally think this is the best news in comics since CGC was announced. With their heads getting to big for their own good this should bring consistency to the market.

Awesome, I will definitely give them a try.

Agreed CGC has many problems as it's essentially a monopoly with no reason to change there ways, competition is good for business.

CGC is so dog slow right now. I'll be at Indy Pop, if anyone wants me to submit books for you let me know. I'll be testing them out myself with some books

With CGC no, they would not. Not sure how this new company would handle it.

Sportscards ultimately settled in with BGS the highest standard, then PSA, then everything else is basically crap unless you live in Canada in which case KSA is pretty close to PSA.

So we've got CGC and to upset them you're going to need to do something REALLY impressive and get your books to sell at or above the value of the CGC books.

Eh, should be interesting to watch at least.

Interesting answer to a question by Mr. Borock in this interview

EG: I ask everyone I interview this question Steve, Where do you see the Professionally Graded Comic book market in 10 years?

SB: Eventually, you will see a major, legitimate competitor for CGC. That will open up the market and, as long as whoever it will be is truly expert, impartial and honest, it will not hurt the market at all.

Opens June third I for one can't wait to submit my comics to them I will let y'all know how it goes but Cgc is already altering their grading on restored books. CGC launches new restoration/conservation label. They will do whatever they can to keep new submissions coming in so I guess now all restored books will have to be resubmitted. Cgc is scared I would say this is not a pgx coming up this is a company that will have to be very open with it's customers to beat cgc

BGS is not the standard in the hobby PSA is due to a thing called the set registry. BGS is only good for people grading newer rookies and selling the to idiots who don't realize that the majority of newer chrome stuff will grade 9.5

BGS 9.5's sell at a higher premium than a PSA 10. Then take a look at the insane prices the BGS 10's can command and I'm going to have to disagree with you on this one. Though the set registry does have it's fans.

BGS is the standard when it comes to newer stuff, but when it comes to vintage stuff I'd say PSA > SGC > BGS/BVG

Compare psa 93 sp jeter prices to BGS and let me know which is higher or virtually any card made before 1985, BGS vintage grading is a joke and they grade sheet cut cards which hurts them badly which is why BGS graded Gretzky rookies have tanked

Just kidding, I didn't look two posts up! :P

If they stick with their turnaround times, they are going to have a winner on their hands.

yeah, $15 vs $28, plus right now CGC's 10 day service is running 20+ and it's not guaranteed, something they've been able to get away with because they had no real competition.

If it's for your personal collection, doesn't really matter. If it's for re-sale or secondary market value I'd still be waiting to see how this company is received. Faster turnaround times and lower costs won't be that appealing if they get PGX type money instead of CGC type money.

With the possible exception of "flip it immediately" books. We'll call it book X. Let's say book X is coming out with a lot of hype and variants and all the regularly hoopla. Now you know ebay will be flooded with graded CGC copies shortly after release. If you can use this company and it's shorter turnaround times to get their books onto ebay before other sellers can get cgc books on there, you might do really well in that case.

I'll take a wait and see approach.

BTW completely random thought but since I used the bgs/psa comparison earlier, think any company will ever offer a set registry for comicbooks? It'd be insane and I don't know how many people would be interested but since for them it's really just maintaining a database it might encourage people to grade books that otherwise would never be graded.
