Not overly busy today, but the comic prices were not in my price range as all the dealers were asking insane prices on the books IMHO. I didn't get any comics while there, but did become a dealer for CBCS grading as well as a Witness for future signings working with them.

I took some photos, will post below in a few.

Met Steve Borock of CBCS and he showed me a Yellow Label SS book he did of the Obama Spidey Cover signed by Obama.

* I know I look thrilled in that photo

Had a frozen spell cast on me by the Ice King

Ran into this beauty!

Met the lovely Raychul Moore

Hodor was there, but wanted $30 for a photo with him, so I passed

Kevin Eastman signing my TMNT books. He was incredibly cool and awesome to talk with. He even drew a tiny TMNT Turtle on each of my books.

This is what the books looked like after signing, they're off with CBCS for grading

I also got a chance to hang out and talk with Ben Templesmith. Incredibly cool and awesome dude.

Since you didn't pick up anything because of the outrageous prices, I thought I'd cheer you up with this.

Those Turtles books look great, especially the gold (?) ink on the right. Very cool!

Great stuff Indy, looks like you had a blast. Hodor is also a badass DJ in real life too, I've read. That CBCS label looks an awful lot like CGC's, just wondering if there's any potential legal issues there between the two.

CGC has deep pockets, so who knows for sure. A gentleman named West who I worked with while doing the witnessing of signatures is also-an ex CGC employee. I think he said he was with them for 10+ years. I forget the actual number he said, I want to say 16 or 19, but am not positive, so I think I"m safe saying 10+

I did have a blast. This wasn't a 100% comic con, it was Sci-Fi, Internet, Gaming, Movies & Comics.. I actually think it would have drawn more people if marketed as a comic con and contained the same elements, but they marketed it as mixed bag of celebrity/internet/gaming with comics not being the forefront item. I think that was a mistake and led to a smaller crowd at the show. I didn't mind, allowed me to gain access to people easier than normally, although having the CBCS guys with me helped. Eastman was actually excited about his books being some of the first to go through them. He is an awesome guy, really down to earth and easy to speak with. Some celeb types talk at you, but he was actually speaking with me and was interested in my thoughts on the Turtles and the movie coming up. I was kind about the movie as he said he was a consultant on it. I think I said it'll appeal to a whole new generation and looks action packed, but I also said hopefully you can see the action and it's not all tight shot quick cuts, which annoys me. He said he thinks I'll be able to make most of it out on screen.

Does it get a yellow label even if it was not witnessed?

Did someone witness Barack Obama signing that book or was it I'll be holder?

That's awesome! A real gem.

Yes, all their signature yellow label books will require a witness. The great news is I am signed up to be a witness for them, well, not 100% final yet, but the process has been started. That will be awesome for shows/signings I attend. They're still about a month away from getting books out after being graded due to a delay in cases coming in from overseas. Steve is a great guy and knows A LOT about the grading industry and is a friend to the hobby.

Sorry about the auto correct my stupid machine did that I didn't catch.
I'm gonna guess that Barack didn't do a signing at a Con, I couldn't imagine where someone would get him to sign it at. Do you know any of the back story? That is a one a kind. That's how you collect a signature. Awesome.

I didn't even ask him how he got it. I guess I should have, but he's a very wealthy guy who has mucho connections.

Interesting. A guy on my ship ship this deployment lost the tip of his pinky finger in a accident and the Navy flew him to Germany to have it checked out. It just turned out Obama was also there at the same time to meet troops. Imagine that luck! He was able to get off the ship and meet the President.

Anyways, cool write up and I'm interested to see where this all goes with Indy. I've got a ton of raw Walking Dead books that I want to get slabbed and holding back right now to see how this new company plays out. I hear they are also in Florida so I can drive out and make a personal drop off if needed.
