Default 2 Case 2011 A&G Baseball Break

A little bit about myself if anybody wants to know since this is my first group break. I graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Platteville in the fall of 2010 with a BS in Engineering Physics with minors in Mathematics and Nanotechnology. Currently I work for Terso Solutions, INC. as a Mechanical Engineer where we develop RFID enabled intelligent enclosures. My fiancée and I have a 8 month old Caviler King Charles puppy named Charlie and I have lots of pictures of him if anyone wants to see. I also know a very reputable breeder if anyone is interested in a puppy of their own.

I was thinking the best way to do this may just be a draft slot break with slots for
  • Each hit (3 per box * 24 boxes = 72 slots)
  • The mini's out of each box (24 boxes = 24 slots)
  • An entire box of base (24 boxes = 24 slots)

A random will be done between all slot holders to see who the box toppers go to.

Which would give us a grand total of 120 slots and with a case being about $975 that would amount to $16.25 a slot before any fees and shipping. Shipping can later be computed depending on what you pick with your slots so nobody has to overpay for shipping. This way everyone could get a piece of anything they want. Also make the buying/trading of slots rather fun.

Break is now open. Format and slot pricing are within the guidelines and the host has provided verification for the age requirement. Please do your own due diligence and only join if you are comfortable with dealing with the host.

Another option would be to only do 1 case. I was just thinking with 2 cases everyone should get at least something and should see some nice hits.

You got to add more non baseball slots - one is just not enough if its a team break- last year they murdered all the other slots when just one

I noticed that looking back at the other years breaks. What would be a good way to split up the non baseball slots? I was thinking something like one slot would be non baseball whose last names starts with A-G or something but 26 doesn't split up nice unless one spot is for the first half and one for the back half of the alphabet.

easy way would be to just do the non baseball by the box lots, like every 3-4 boxes maybe? actually they would still get a ton more cards, probably less hits though, so might go every 1-2 boxes, that would also add alot of slots, and make the slots cheaper all around.

No interest at all? If someone has other idea how to format this break I'd love to hear them!

It will prob do better with a checklist. If all the rare autos are non baseball. Might need to reformat. Do the team slots. Random all non baseball hits/base across the board. May draw more intrest. And a 2 case break of this stuff is going to be a chore for the host. Just putting it out there.

How about slots for 'other sports' and 'non sports' ?

I collect A&G but have no interest in baseball. I collect JUST the non-sport cards in the sets.

We could also do all base/minis from a box is one slot. What if we random the box toppers between all slot holders? That would cut out 48 slots and bring the price per slot to $20.32 a slot.

Random the toppers would be best as 90% are $1 or less. I would keep base and mini slots seperate. You also need to consider inserts. The mini slots should be for base mini w/paralels. Inserts large and mini should be diff slots.

The mini's slots would constitute all the 1 15/32" x 2 11/16" sized cards from a box. The base slot would be everything else from the box that is not a hit or mini. How does that sound?
