Every Member seemed certain that Five Star baseball would be in it to win it this month.

Let's break it down:

5 Star should be about $100 per participant.

That is $1400 for 5 star and $45 for shipping etc, with $55 left over (this will be used to purchase a box of XXX so the hitless may receive something.)

Bowman Chrome - (i know it's not high end, but it has been mentioned)

2 cases should be @ $1500-1550 or so. spots should be about $120ish

2012 Tier One - (price is $1525 for a full case, i know, inflated, but there are a ton of great pulls)

2 cases of chrome is fairly easy to sort for me, especially by team.

Let's keep the discussion going for this! we'll come to a conclusion soon enough!

EDIT - i am very glad i made the poll public. there are a couple users voting that are not in the break as of right now. we'll decypher it all when the time comes.

Not much left in Tier One........ I say we go with 2 cases of BC..... Love to BGS my autos and hang onto them for a bit...... Plus someone will hit a nice Super !!!! (I hope)

Yeah. We'll probably have to put up a new poll without 5 star. I'm just not big into the piles of base that follows BC around.

Looks like five star. We'll have to figure out the break format as 3 are in a tie.

Sucks it got pushed back though. Any opinions?

I wouldn't bet on either going up. 2011 was more of an anomaly for BC and five star is already so highly priced. BC does seem to be underordered with a decent checklist this year but it goes against the "high end" aspect of the club.

Id personally prefer to do a high end break of an older product where the price has already settled. Wouldn't five star be a November break anyways?

i'm with you there bud. if we can find an older product that is higher end, we would be good. leave five star for november.

2009 topps tribute $375/box
2009 topps unique $90/box
2011 topps finest $115/box
2008 SPx Baseball - case is only $930
2007 UD Legendary Cuts - case is only $1150

we could mix and match obviously, but just some intriguing options.

I haven't participated in any breaks so far... How does this work? Say we did two cases of five star - how is it split, say we did 2 cases of chrome - how is it split?

we will be holding a team random or draft for the break.

if any card comes out for your 2 teams, it is then your card.
if your team gets 0 cards, then you get nothing.

i don't think we're going to five star this month. 5 star was pushed way back to the 14th of november. .

i will host any box break you guys want, so, please feel free to throw some ideas my way. BUT whatever we pick MUST be available on Blowout.

I would be interested in the Bowman Chrome or the TTT.... format doesn't matter as much to me, but snake usually is interesting.

guys, i am afraid i can no longer host breaks. It is all explained in the thread linked below.

basically, i am drawing a negative for every group break i have ever hosted since 2011. New Jersey enacted a USE TAX which went into effect in 2011, and it means any and all purchases over $1000 (that originate online or out of state, and untaxed) must be reported to the state and any state taxes that would/should have been paid will become due to the State.

Last year i was in the hole $750, which i just paid up, and it BLOWS.

This year, just on group breaks and not including my eBay purchases, i am up to $650. if i factored into that all of my ebay purchases i am up over $850.

I simply cannot handle this, nor will i force Blowout members and members of the group to take on the additional 7% i would need to break even. On top of that, i will be taxed for my money incoming this year through paypal.

it's a lose-lose for me and my hole is already dug for next year. come april, i have to jump in, and i would rather not dig it any deeper.

anyways, enough with the Sob story, if a member would like to take over as host, please let me know. Thanks in advance for understanding everyone.

I'm really sorry to hear it but I completely understand. I'd hate to have you pay to hold group breaks. I figure a use tax is only going to get more and more prevalent with internet shopping taking over retail stores.

yeah, i wish i knew about it before i started hosting.

so from here on out, i am just going to be hosting BGS group subs.
