Fish,
Hate to see this die on the vine. If you need a spot to fill, I can take another one to get this moving on.

Robert,

My payment was mailed on thursday. First timer here also. You break it whenever you have the time. I'm OK with just seeing the results. Payment should be there by Saturday I would think.

We're doing an 8 box case. I fronted the extra money so case was ordered this morning. I should of ordered the case yesterday, but got side tracked and forgot (this way guaranteeing we've have it for Monday). Given my location to Chris and the history I have with his packages coming to me, I expect it to arrive on Monday. I didn’t have it shipped to work, which may delay the proposed break time of 7 pm on Monday (31st). If the UPS guy gets to my house before I'm home from work, break may begin later (by 9 pm and run until we run out of packs . Given 8 boxes, I'm guessing we'll have about an hours worth of hooting and hollering while I'm breaking and posting, then I'll be busy getting packages prepped and ready for shipment.

Those that I'm still awaiting slot $$ have a solid standing within the group, and I have no reason to doubt they won't pay on time. Once they pay, I'll get busy and get the slot configuration posted and their respective teams. I'mjust putting this out there but if for some reason they don't pay, I will offer those slots up to those that willingly gave up slots to allow other others in. Providing they don't want then they will be rationed to those that have offered to pick up the remaining ones.

ND3 Got it!

As I said, I have no 2nd guesses everyone will pay thats why I ordered the case (besides the whole fact I want to get ripping!). Just won't create the randomizing until everyones paid up.

Default Heads up to all participants

FYI...you guys better keep an eye on this graph.

USGS Real-Time Water Data for Indiana

If Northern Indiana goes black (right now most is dark blue, which means they've exceeded their 90% of the historical mean flow, and if you can see the flood stages for those sites, some are already exceeded). I just got out of a meeting with the big bosses. They are saturated with water and have called us for some help if needed. Any more water goes straight to the rivers sending water levels up and up. IF they go black, there is a chance I'm heading to IN ASAP (High water is would be our equivalent to hitting the big red button). Right now they're projecting it to stall over northern Indiana, which could make things get ugly for those near the floodplains. Which if I get that phone call to go, I gotta go. Could be Sunday, Monday or Tuesday, a lot depends on the weather system. Not exactly military orders, but this is my way of protecting the US (it is not equal, so please don't take the pun to heart...I pray every night our boys overseas come back safe and sound). The break will be postponed until I return.

While most of you may wish for my wife to host and do the break, I can assure you she rips a mean pack, but may have issues with posting results and/or getting all the shipments out. I will keep everyone updated. Any questions, please ask!

Fish, do what you have to do and don't worry about the break. Grand scheme of life the break is totally small potatoes. Be safe

As bad as it sounds consider me a water boy. Most of my work is done near Detroit, but I travel throughout the state depending on the project. I spend most of my time either doing water quality work (I run a network of monitors on the Rouge River), along with measure the water level height and discharge in the Detroit area. Most of my network is connected to the National Weather Service (long story short, when river levels get close to flood stage our equipment calls them to let them know). When things aren't flooding, engineers are using our data to study flood frequency's, and water availability usage studies. Then there is also Lake Profiling (depth, overall quality, various metals/mineral samples, or the River studies (PCB, Mercury, Metals, Minerals, etc)...and the rare occasion I get to collect bugs for indirect water quality/habitat studies...oh yeah, then there is that 2-300 page report I help co-author every year!

so basically you have to sit and watch computer screens all day monitoring water conditions?? and go out into the field when there is some sort of emergency? sounds like that job could be a blessing and a curse lol. lots of time to troll the boards.

watch computer screens I wish...Its my butt on the front end of the boat grabbing the sampler (or sending it down to the desired depth), then sending it in for analysis. As far as the monitors go, they're set in the stream, so about every week I have to go and clean then thanks to so much silt being in the river.

Thats why I picked the career (well ok, I picked to be a fisheries biologist, but couldnt' find that job, but after some sea lamprey work that lead me to the hydrotech job i've got now). Semi Ok pay, benefits suck, but the vacation time is great, and the flexibility can't be beat..one of the few jobs I know your vacation slips aren't turned down.

I wish. I think the Ann Arbor office (Biology Division, I'm in the Water Division) does most of that. If not the ACOE (Army Engineers). Only time I see the Great Lakes is if I'm swimming or fishing!

No worries Fish. Don't think the extra day is going to kill anyone.
