07/08 SPX hit draft break: The Hunt for Kevin Durant

This is a 2007/2008 SPX Basketball hit draft break. There are 100 advertised hits, so we're going with 100 slots. The breakdown looks like this:

$1185 for 1 case of 07/08 SPX Basketball
$1185/100= 11.85/ slot

Paypal fees, shipping and supplies is about $4 a slot

so we're looking at
$16 1st slot
$13.50 each additional slot.

This is the process as a hit draft break.

1. Sign up for as many slots as you would like (1 slot = 1 hit)
2. Once the break is filled, payments will accepted via paypal.
3. Once all payments are received, draft order will be determined on random.org.
4. Once draft order is determined, all boxes will be opened live on ustream (catfishhedberg).
5. After all the boxes are opened, the hits will be scanned and put online. Then whoever had 1st pick in the draft will select whichever card they want from the break, then 2nd pick will pick their card and so on. After all 100 picks have been made, any additional hits and all the rookies, inserts and parallels will be randomed off between the participants.

I was gonna do it live on ustream and then put it up on youtube but if people would feel more comfortable with a mod doing it that would be fine.

Rookies, inserts and parallels will be randomed off between all the participants. I figured I'd donate the base cards to a children's hospital or something like that.

If you random the hits, then you get what you get. With 100 hits to choose from, I'd much rather wait it out (I know, I know, some people are really slow to pick

) and try to pick a player that I happen to like instead of having to take what my hit number happens to be.

i was thinking that we could put a 24 hour max. on the picks. People would have up to 24 hours to make their pick (which most wont need) and if a pick isnt made in 24 hours we could make the default pick the card with the highest book value. If multiple cards have the same book value then the pick will be randomed between those cards.what do you guys think about that idea?

I think you'd need more like 3 hours, otherwise it could take 3 months

I disagree. Most of the breaks that I've followed or been a part of have had picks made usually within a few hours of each other at the most. With most people having to either go to work, go to school or having a life outside of the message board, I think it's fair that they have a decent window of time to make their pick. I would like to hear some more feedback on the subject though.

last one I did like this, there were only 35 hits. Break was on Friday people didn't finish picking till the next Wednesday....and that was only 35 hits

24 hours is way too long for each pick. i think 2 to 3 should be good, especially if you PM folks once all hits are scanned and right before the draft begins.

that's my opinion, though.

I'm just trying to put together a relatively cheap group break that people may like. In the last break I tried to put together, I had put together a list of cases that would be available for about the same slot price as I had for that one and 07/08 SPX was the one that had the most interest. I figured I'd give it a shot, if it doesn't fill then that's fine. I know this product has a lot of plain jerseys but it has some pretty nice patches and of course the Durant autos are a possibility plus the other big name upper deck guys.

So, any interest from anyone today?
