There is already a majority to break as they arrive, with all due respect to Romad.

Actually the decision should be Pat's. He is the one who has to do all of this work, it may be easier for him to break it up, I'm not sure.

I really dont understand why you wouldnt want to go ahead and bust now...i know not everyone rips and flips BUT most of the people in this break I think do. The longer you wait the longer the values of the cards are going down as each product comes out. Well good luck to you guys or should I say Pat for having to look at the cases and hold back those urges lol

I don't understand why anyone would want to wait until January to break everything, only thing I can think of is to make this an "EPIC" break. Otherwise I see no reason to wait. With that said, I don't care either way because I'm just going to wait until the end to get my cards.

Correct?
I agree with this, it can not be any other way.

Since the seller accepted my offer which was actually higher than the slot price, he is now out of the break completely and I should benefit from any "refund" just like I would have to pay any extra cost for that slot that would be required.

Pat, please confirm this.

additionally, people are trying to sell slots for $259. Why would they get a refund if I essentially pay for their slot?

No other way to do it. The current owner of the slots gets the refund.

what is the current status of this break and the decision to give the current slot holder any refund due?

Not unless the seller/buyer agree to split the refund...that's what the buyer and I agreed upon when I sold the slot!

How did you get that deal?

But in the event that no deal was made I am the new owner of the slot and any refund should be mine. There is no other logical way to do this.

Especially, since I have already paid a premium for the slot.

Regardless of the premium, if you bought the slot and the original slot holder did not make a deal for the refund, it is 100% yours as the new owner of the slot.

Sorry about not getting back to you guys sooner. Haven't been on a whole lot the last week. The break is kinda sitting in limbo at the moment. I have the 2 TC cases, the BC case, and the EEE case in hand now. Draft will be here in a week or so, with Sterling coming early Jan. Platinum got pushed to the 17th, which sucks and is really what we are all going to be waiting for.

As for the refunds, they will go out once I lock in the last 3 cases. I'm still holding out in hopes that the prices may dip a bit more, but will likely have them all paid for before Christmas. I will let figure out what will be taken off and let everyone know as soon as I do. And yes, the refunds on sold slots will go to the buyer.

What is the rational for this?

I own all rights to the slots I purchased from others.

Ummm...you are the buyer. So therefore, they would go to you. I'm talking the buyer of the slots, not the original slot holder, unless otherwise worked out between the 2 parties during the transaction.

I know this was covered at some point, but in seeing the sheer number of USA cards in the Topps products we are opening, are we really going to randomize ALL of the cards that don't have a team? I feel like the randomization for something like that alone will take days. Have you given any thought as to how the higher end no-team cards as well as all the commons/base will be doled out?

Also, I'll use this post as my weekly plea to start opening cards...please!

Since I haven't chimed in yet............I would agree that going ahead and breaking what you have is good thing. I would support the decision to NOT send any cards though until every product is cracked. With respect to previous posts about the cards losing value I could not disagree more as no player is going up or down at this moment. In fact, as the 2011 season approaches the cards with value will increase over where they stand now. Maybe just crack a case every 3 or 4 days to string it out until the other products arrive.

so since Platinum hobby is just about out, it's just Sterling on the 19th now. i don't know if i can stand to wait anymore. hopefully Topps doesn't push it back any further.
