Hello, I actually had the same situation your in a few months ago. i hates wasting a ton of cash keep buying new ink cartridges so i researched label printers and it turn out they have these label printers which use no ink called thermal printers. The labels are only about 30 bucks for 1,000 and require no ink , they use heat on these special labels. The only i bout cost only 100 on ebay and its a dream come true. Took me few hours to install but once I did it works great, only downside is it doesn't print international labels.
The printer is called Zebra thermal 2844

Look up the Brother that iluvfish2 mentioned and the you tube videos are very nice.
I think I am going to go that route.

Love my Dymo LabelWriter 450 Turbo. I picked it up on eBay for $80, brand new in box. You cant go worng with Brother, Zebra, or Dymo. All 3 companies make a good label maker.

wish it was compatible with a mac though. I tried this one and there was something about mac and the software that didn't work.

If you are having trouble with mac on the QL-570 contact brother and ask which are compatiable.. I use a QL-500.. and it's made my shipping a lot easier and quicker.... I strongly recommend it.. been using mine for months now.

Can someone post a pic of what the labels look like. I am having a hard time picturing this in my head. Since printed labels are almost 4"x6", and the thermal printers all print smaller, what information is printed? I know Dymo makes a 4"x6" that paypal says is not supported, but someone on another thread said they just use the format for another machine that does 4"x6" and has no problem.

+1 to this. Also, buy the compatible labels rather than the Brother brand to lower your per label cost. You just have to modify the spool.

Dymo 450 Turbo is my weapon of choice as well. I use generic labels with it and they work just fine.

I couldn't get my Dymo to work with my Macbook. It never would print the label correctly.

This is the same problem I had with the Brother. It is not that it is not compatible with a MAC because it is and if you call Brother they will tell you its compatible. The problem is somewhere in the software within ebay shipping configuration I believe.
