Pre Sell listings on eBay

I occasionally do some research on eBay to see how the market is on some of the products I like to crack. I happened to be looking up prices for Ultimate Collection hockey and basketball boxes just to see how much people are trying to sell them for when I came across pre sale listings for 07/08. Per the auction details, these products have an approximate release date for mid to late April. Are you kidding me???? People are actually trying to list pre sale items 4+ months in advance???

sellers will presell months in advance to try and raise funds to pay for a product that they presold 4 months ago. it's robbing Peter to pay Paul.... so to speak.

... and if they dont deliver, it's too late to file a Paypal, Ebay, or credit card claim.

That's why I reported the listings to eBay, even though I'm not sure how much good that will do........unbelievable.

Ummm..I don't see what the big deal is. Blowout does the same thing. They have the same items listed for presale. Why does it even matter? If there are people out there wanting to order that far ahead then why would it upset you? I am having a hard time understanding your motive for being so upset about it.

Well the biggest reason, as stated before, its against eBay policy to list things that don't come out within 30 days of the end of the auction.

I understand Blowout cards does, but they do it on their website so obviously no violation of policy there. I'm fairly certain I wouldn't buy something that far in advance but if I did it would be from blowout as I trust them A LOT more than I do a random seller on eBay.

I suppose just the principle of it being against eBay policy to list something that far in advance bothers me a bit. That and as also stated it would be too late to file any type of claim once the product is actually released, that kind of bothers me too. I'm just on a rant :P lol

Yeah, I figure it doesn't bother some people or they wouldn't be buying them. And some people do trust their ebay seller just as much as they would trust buying from Amazon. Some guys repeatedly buy from the same seller everytime, just like some buy from Blowout every time. Cause they know they can trust them.

To each his own though. I just didn't see what the big deal is. People will either buy it or not buy it. As long as the seller is being upfront about the the day the items are available and shipping date, then it should be fine.

Prolem is what if this guy runs with your money, then you have no recourse, unless you pay with your credit card through paypal.

Not every seller on ebay is a thief...I would guess, you have the same security buying off ebay as you would if you bought off of a website. Look at all the people that were hosed by tradingcardcollectibles.com....at least with ebay you can see a history of transactions.

Unless you have been screwed you may not have the capacity to understand ebay presells. I ordered Bowman Chrome BB as a presell last year 3 months prior to release. Guy/gal had 99% feedback, kept in touch via email, was assured that he/she would send it as soon as they received it and guess what.....no product. As a matter of fact this person closed their ebay account. Paypal and ebay were of no help. Fortuneately my credit card company gave me a credit. Almost lost $1500. Think about this before getting preorders on ebay. Give me Blowout anytime.

Same thing year, I pre-ordered 2007 finest football box only a week before the release. Well the seller never sent the box and it took me 2 months to get my money back and he did this to several others. I will no longer pre-order anywhere except from a dealer like here.
