Default Fake Patches on Ebay

This guy is selling the altered patches that he bought as lesser patches under this username.

This may have been posted already.

I can't believe he ruined such a sweet OJ patch. What a tool.

Looks like he is gonna make a profit on that Peterson card. The more I see of this, the less likely I am to buy some of these cards off of eBay. The card companies need to find a solution to this problem quickly.

I have always wondered why the card companies don't offer a picture of the whole run of high end cards available on their website. Not for every product, but for the really high end stuff like Exquisite, SPA & Ultimate. COMC has shown that it is not prohibitively expensive to scan and database the images. For example, I would click on Upper Deck's website and view all 99 of the Exquisite AP rookie patches. This process would certainly slow down production by 1-2 days, but it would all but eliminate the fake patch business. In addition, it would actually add excitement to guys who can view the cards online, pick out their favorite patch and then go hunting for it. It could create its own craze of card hunting. Maybe I could even register my card on the site so if I had a card that someone wanted - they could contact me about it. This actually sounds like a good idea for a partnership between COMC and the manufacturers. . . . . .

How stupid can buyer's be? This clown shows up on Ebay with 85 total feedback all of which is from buying cards. He has only four cards for sale and they are the most incredible looking patch cards that you have ever seen. People are willing to risk $1,250+ to buy from this guy? Wow!

I don't deserve much credit, I tracked down a couple of the pics but one of his ripped off buyers posted an auction that exposed the Matt Ryan sp authentic patch.

I would never buy a crazy logo patch off eBay. Too good to be true and even if it is true not worth the cash to take the chance.

Pretty funny listing

A few members have reported seller to Ebay and I sent the auction to UD. I asked them to look into it and help fight internet fraud. We shall see

I'm wondering if companies are going to have to start placing something over the jersey/patch area to cover it up and make it harder for scum bags to get away with this. For example, Allen & Ginter cards have a sort of plastic "border" around the swatches. If companies started placing plastic over the whole swatch, I would think it would slow down some of these guys. Yes, it would take away from the attractiveness of the cards, but it's better than being ripped off with a fake patch. Just my opinion.

What the seller doesn't know is that as soon as I win the auctions, I am going to get his contact information and file a police report in his jurisdiction. I will tell him as soon as he sends me an invoice. The crime is, in Oregon anyway, attempted theft by deception in the first degree. I'll keep everyone filled in on his reaction. Awesome!

Update: He cancelled my bids

What sucks the most about this is what you just said. It's how a lot of people feel. So when real patches get pulled and sold on EBay, they don't bring anywhere near what they should because of all the scammers out there.

This is what I would like to see happen. That would be the best solution for everyone. Buyers would have the knowledge that the card is legit, and that would benefit ($$) the sellers. That is, until the scammers figure a way around this as well...

It'd also work if they'd show the jersey that the item comes from on the card, like they did 5-6 years ago.

Look at the Mo Rivera one he has up now. That's not what the Rivera ultimate patches look like, someone on here pulled one.

This guy is a scammer, and a horrible excuse for a seller. I hope he gets what he deserves and all of his victims get their $$ back.

Do you think someone should send messages to all of his buyers telling them they bought fakes?? This would ruin him for sure.

I feel bad for the people who bid $51 on this fake. Don't they see the warning signs of a private listing? What did you say to him? Did he respond?

Yall are just jealous that he has the most ridiculous pulls in the industry! His pulls are so great that he lights his cigarettes with Chris Johnson Base Rookie Cards. He sorts his Exquisite over the garbage can with #/99 not worth the bother.

I was about to bid on one of this guys (larryholms dude) cards, did a quick search on his Ebay name here, and boom, found out that he's selling cranked up sh*t! Even if the card I wanted to bid on is legit, I still wont buy anything from someone that is know to sell cranked up sh*t.

Again, this forum proves itself invaluable to me. Thanks!
