If all you do is consider the 20% itself, it is a bit high. But if you take into consideration the fact that you use no supplies, have no time invested in listing, shipping, etc. it is much more worthwhile. Additionally you do not have to worry about deadbeat bidders and that hassle.
You can use the money to buy cards, and thus you do not pay the 20% fee on the money spent. I am starting to actively buy a bunch of singles to complete sets. This is saving me quite a bit on shipping buying from multiple sources off ebay. If you have a high $ card that would be considered hot or in high demand...that would probably be better to put on ebay. I currently have about 17000 cards on comc. I have not sent in many higher end cards. This service is great and I really like the results. Other than sending the stuff in, I sit back and do nothing. Sending in about 2000 more cards today. Moderator-go ahead and move this thread if better suited for the ebay/show selling post section. |

I second that.
They don't take anything from your sales. They only take the percentage out when you cash out.

If you choose to cash out, then yes there is a 20% cash out fee. Ebay/Paypal take about 10% on average, so you are paying about 10% more to have them do all of the work for you. And I'd say most of my sales on COMC have gone for 25-50% (or more) higher than what the same cards would have brought on ebay. So even paying the higher cash out % would still generally net me more money than selling on ebay.
But its your choice whether or not you cash-out and pay that 20% fee. Me personally, I've done over $6,000 in actual sales since I joined a year ago and haven't paid even a cent in cash out fees. I've spent over $5,800 back on the site on other cards and additional processing fees. But if I'd ever need the extra money, I'd have no problems paying the 20% fee as it's well worth it to sell stuff for more money on there and avoid the work.

I use COMC for stuff that I do not think will sell on Ebay (inserts, cheap rookies) or just cards that I think would only sell for a buck that I might be able to get a buck fifty or 2 bucks for on COMC. My goal is to get up to 1200 bucks to get the 1k blowout gift cert so I am only paying a cash out fee of like 17 percent. For that type of stuff what would you prefer getting .60 to .70 cents per card or having the card sit at your house taking up space and making you nothing.

Most people only look at the raw numbers. Think of it this way. If you sell a card for a 20% profit, you would essentially break even if you cashed out. BUT....if you reinvested that money into other cards and they sold for a 20% profit, your cash out percentage would actually go down. If you keep making money on your returns, then in the end you are going to only be paying a small percentage to cash out. I may not have explained that right, but maybe it got my point across.
![]() Here is some rough math to show my point. You sell $100 worth of cards that you only have $80 in. If you cashed out, you have $80. (you made 0% profit) OR You sell $100 worth of cards and keep "reinvesting" in other cards to flip. You end up with $200 in you account. You cash out and end up with $160. (you have made a 100% profit) So if you look at it that way, you are coming out WAY ahead. The main thing is keeping your money working for you. The longer you do this, the better off you will be.
