Yup. Working for me this morning. Don't know why I couldn't get on all day yesterday? The reason for the cards listed below 20 cents is ( I think ) they used to offer a discount for sending in commons/low priced cards. Don't think they do it anymore. Also, I believe the guys who run the site have a lot of cards for sale and I assume they don't pay any kind of fee. Anyone please correct me if I'm mistaken.

I'd be interested in seeing a comparison of fee's between ebay and checkoutmycards.com. I know checkoutmycards will be much higher, but my initial reaction is that its more than worth it if they can turn inserts and star cards into cash, that otherwise wouldn't sell on ebay. On top of that they take all the time to post and ship cards...very interesting site, but I'm not sure I'm sold on the existence of actual demand for these low value cards...

Taking into account that low end inserts seem to sell best on this site (from reading the whole thread), I was thinking of putting up hundreds of inserts asking between $1 and $2 each to ensure sales. $0.2 per card is already between 10 and 20% of selling price, plus the additional 20% to withdraw money bumps up the total fees to between 30-40% per card which is definitely much higher than ebay. However these high fees seem to be more than worth it as the only time you need to take in turning these cards into cash is packing them and sending them to the website. It also seems like inserts and star cards are selling on this site that wouldn't normally move on ebay. Also even though the fees are quite substantial...its better to get 60-70% return on cards that aren't bringing in anything while gathering dust... |

I'm planning on sending a group of inserts and star cards pretty soon. I'd say it would be worth the fees to at least make some profit on them. Hell, I'd rather give up 40% of my profit from the sale of them than put up .15 per card on ebay and have them not sell at all. At least with this site they stay up there until they sell.

OK cutty if you factor in withdraw fees it would be like this.
Say you send in 1000 cards. Flat rate box costs you $8.95. Then cost $202 to list it. Say you sell every card for an average of $2.50 each. You have $2,500. They take $500. So it cost you $710.95 to sell your cards and you make $1789.05. Not ebay, you list every card, takes you 2 days to list it. More than half of the cards do not sell, you re-list, they do not sell again. That 15 cents turns into 30 for a non sale. You pay ebay fees, postal fees, and you get an average of 50 cents for each card unless and waste a lot of time. Remember, checkoutmycards is a 1 time 20 cent fee, if it doesn't sell of course you might have to ship it back to yourself for $20 for all of them, but you could also sell them as a big lot on ebay, and now they have all of the scans for your ebay lot. Checkoutmycards.com rocks, if you have a full time job with kids and do not want to waste time with ebay this is a great alternative, if you like sitting next to your desk scanning all of your cards one by one by one and taking so much time stick to ebay (BTW I hate ebay and im done listing any single cards on ebay.) |

I am sending in 1000+ cards tomorrow...I definitely fit the category of being busy with work, family, etc....and want to move a bunch of stuff in a more convenient fashion....
I am having trouble finding the answer on check out my cards site.... once entering in the discount or sale price....am I able to adjust that price down the road...or do I have to leave it at my original entry price? Obviously it would seem to make sense that the price can be adjusted, but I am unable to verify... Thanks in advance for any help!! |

My biggest concern is the actual demand for these low end cards...so out of the 1000 sent in it's hard to assume that all will be sold for the price you want...but to me its worth the chance at moving cards that are otherwise "worthless" sitting around the house...I guess anything over breaking even would be worthwhile as I take into account the added benefit of clearing out inventory...
Jacob and all others who have tried selling this route, how have your selling stats been? |
