What do they charge for shipping cards that you buy? Is there a flat rate or does it depend on the quantity?

I think it is $2 for the first card, 20c for each addt'l -- max of $20.

If they just add it to your account, let me know, or should I include the $2 when I send mine out?

Hi guys. I've out been out of the card scene since February due to my starting up my wife's new business. Now that her business has slowed down for the winter, I have time to think about cards again.

My wife's been complaining about the boxes of cards taking up space in the office, and Checkoutmycards sounds like exactly what I'm looking for. Ebay sales look very disappointing. After reading thru this thread, most people start by sending 100-200 cards to CMC, and everyone seems to be happy with it.

Can anyone give me a good reason why I shouldn't send 500+ cards in my first shipment to CMC? And also, is anyone using ebay anymore? Other than sets and high end cards, why would I bother with the bay anymore?

The reason they send smaller shipments is to put the minimum cash in... Then as they sell cards and have credit, you add the cards on the credit.

Just basically saving the cash out of your pocket since they charge %20 to put it back in...

I think that most people are sending in 100-200 cards for their first shipment is so that they can build up $$ credit on the site so they don't have to pay anything for later shipments. 100-200 cards also take a lot less time to price when the go live in your account.

I still plan on using ebay for new release stuff and anything high end that I sell. The only other thing I would personally sell is larger lots (team, rc, refractor, etc.).

I sent in my first shipment a few days ago to see how things fare for me. That will go a long way in determining if I am going to completely cut out selling on ebay.

It'll be interesting watching this site evolve. I think it could become a great way to sell even higher end cards. Since your account credit is "worth" 20% less as cash I'd imagine if somebody is looking for something particular, even if the price is a little less on Ebay, they would choose to buy from COMC. I think because cards can change hands so effortlessly on CMOC, and the psychological aspect of spending credit from a growing account (if selling too) will lead to people making purchases they would never make on Ebay.

I think the other reason people send in smaller shippments is they process the order quicker. If that is not an issue or the startup price I would send as many as you want. Plus they are offering nice discounts this month so i would do it by next friday.

FWIW, my "send to CMC pile" kept growing and growing -- So I am one of the few who sent in 600+ cards (I think) on my first batch...

I have sold some jersey cards on CMC. Mostly $3-$10 stuff and cheap autos like $5-15. Most are #'ed stuff and rc though. My average sale is like $3 per card.

Jerseys don't sell too well but you can try to send them. My pile is growing and growing and growing as well. I wanted to only send in 100 cards to take advantage of the coupon, but I think I am at 600+ already. I might try to get it up to 1,000 and try to sneak in my $50 coupon Tim is great and maybee he will let it slide by

Default Question???

Whats the lowest BV'ed card you guys would send?? $8+? I went through some of my hockey RC's last night and priced them and most of them are $3-$4 cards. Is it worth sending those types of cards in or do you want to send cards with a BV of $8+ ??

They don't sell lots do they?

I think my lowest were in the $2 range...

My (probably flawed) reasoning is...

If I can sell a $2 for $1 minus $0.20, I can make $0.80 on a card that was just sitting in a box, and would continue to sit in a box forever.

The highest BV card I sent was $120, but the condition means I will probably only be able to get $30-40 for it tops.

Looks like a very promising site. Count me as one more that will give it a try. I set up my account last night and will be gathering a lot of 100 cards to send in this weekend to take advantage of the discount. It sounds like people are mainly going with low-end stuff to start and not doing too much with memorabilia cards/autos.....is this the trend? I don't have a ton of those I want to get rid of, but I do have some and I'm working on some sets with GU and autos which I wouldn't mind spending some of my credit on. I'll try to update my luck/progress with the cards I send in......hopefully others will continue to do the same. Thanks to all for the info you have provided so far--it is all very helpful and interesting!

I sent in every GU and Auto that I didn't think would sell for $1 on ebay.

And how is that going for ya? I sent in a like 20 basketball game used and only like 4 sold in 6 months for between $1.50-2. If you have success selling them at 75% off I would send all of them in, but I have some of them listed at 80% off and no sucess....but they are basketball.

Does CMC sell internationally? This has been the only problem with Naxcom/Sportsbuy. They've allowed Canada (think only because they're confirmed via Paypal). But this is the reason I've avoided listing a ton of hockey. Basketball at times can and does sell very well internationally as well.

I have been a seller on COMC since 5/15/08. To date:

I sent in 7,263 cards.

I have sold 3,447 cards.

My total sales is $6,927.66

If you take my sales ($6,927.66) minus my cards added (7,263) X .20 ($1,452.60) means I have an estimated profit so far (not including my costs to ship the packages to them) of $5,475.06 in just 5 months.

I have sold some big ticket cards, but most of my sales have been inexpensive cards that would never sell on Ebay and had a hard time selling on Sportlots. Right now, I mark my cards that are BV $15 or below at 80-90% off BV.

I recommend this service to all. It is simple and they do the work for you by keeping you updated via Beckett. They have a cooperative effort with Beckett, so they send you updates on prices monthly (both up and down prices) and the best part, I think, is you don't have to waste your man hours scanning cards, etc...!
