Please reconsider this item, Please!
I am worried about this too. I think they need to rethink this and allow sellers to get their own cards out for the $25 max. Otherwise I too will only leave on the site very low dollar base type cards that I dont care about.

Thanks for showing some Kahuna's with this post. On what planet is it OK for people to be jealous of EELindy because he has moved a ton of cards on COMC? Did it ever dawn on them that EELindy invested more than the Gross National Product of Lithuania to originally bust all the wax to get these cards?

This is what is wrong with thought pattern that the government is going to coddle me and nobody should have more success than me society that we are in today!

[QUOTE=mwheeler27;183812]Mizz,

This is an absolutely ridiculous post. I can't stand when someone logs in and posts like this. I don't know eelindy, but I have never once heard him say he's rich beyond belief. I for one like seeing other people's stats. After all, it informs the rest of us how some sellers are doing. This personal attack has no room in these forums. AND if it does, I won't be hanging around here much longer.

Nicely put.

This forum can police itself just as easily as the MODs police it, and I'm sure they'd welcome it. When posts are made that bully other members, people should speak up and out about them.

The posts to ignore are the ones that are ridiculous in nature that have nothing to do with anything and that aren't attacking other members.

I don't like the idea of charging 20% right up front. Heck, that's more than EBay and Paypal fees combined! However, why not charge 5 cents, (or whatever amount works), per auction sold? Wouldn't that be an incredible idea? That way no matter how many times a card is sold, you get some money.

I have other ideas, but I'd like to keep my best ones private for now.
I think this is a good idea. It will at least give them a bit more stability in their liquidity, which is clearly the problem.

What I'm seeing that they're saying with these changes is that they're not getting the actual cash flow they need to keep paying their employees - I'm guessing a good percentage of the sales on the site (maybe as high as 30-40%) are just flips from one account to another. In essence, this is a transfer only of store credit, which they make NOTHING off of. I would be interested to see the actual numbers of sales that take place seller-to-seller vs. buyer-to-seller.

Anyway, because these transacations occur with essentially "imaginary" money (store credit), they are paying people to process transactions, but there is no exchange of actual money on their end. They get nothing from a big chunk of the transactions.

COMC gets money from:
New card processing fees
Shipping & Handling
Cashout fees

Clearly, based on the new changes, they are not making enough from these fees to stay solvent on a month-to-month basis and keep payroll going for their employees. Everyone who is saying that they are screwing us and such - it may look like that, but I have a feeling these guys are just trying to pay the rent at this point. As many cards are on the site, they are still relatively small. 400 sellers is NOTHING compared to eBay, and they have barely taken a fraction of eBay's sports card sellers. I'm guessing that at this point, COMC is far from profitable.

Everyone who is advocating for a boycott, pulling off your cards and your cash - I am guessing this will have the same effect as a bank run. You will not be sending a message, you will be forcing COMC into bankruptcy and killing what up to this point has been a great resource for our hobby.

Someone said upthread that they are obviously not listening to the collectors. I believe they are trying to listen to the collectors, but another kind of collector is shouting a lot louder - the BILL COLLECTOR.

That's just my two cents. I'm leaving my cards on COMC.

Also, my suggestion to COMC regarding the changes is this. Instead of requiring up front/non store credit payment for budget processing, why not take half of the store credit when you receive the cards and the other half when you put the cards up on the site? Just do a count of the cards when you receive them, calculate the fees, take half the store credit right then and there. This would promote solvency in your operations and I, for one, would have no problem with this. Plus, I wouldn't be tempted to spend the store credit I need to hgold onto for when the cards post!

i also like mwheeler27's idea as well about taking out a fee per transaction, like 5 or 10 cents. That way they are making money whenever a card is sold. Granted i dont buy cards on there for sets, but i would have no problem paying 10 cents more for the cards i buy in order for them to stay in business and for me to have a place to pick up cards.

Even if they only charged .01 per transaction it would still be positive cashflow for them where before it wasn't. That is a much stronger idea than these recent changes.

Someone should tell them. I don't need credit for it.

Your explanation of the situation is spot on. Without bringing new money to the site, the credit already on there is just recycling from seller to seller without any fees being taken out.

But one flaw, they are having money problems. So regardless if the dealers make a 'run' on COMC or everyone stands pat and they run out of money in six months the end result is the same. I prefer having my cards and cash back in the event they go bankrupt and I lose everything.

I would be in favor of a flip fee. Even .05 wouldnt be all that bad. If you can't flip the card for a 0.05 profit, probably not worth buying right? Another way to make some money (or at least move inventory) would be to require cards purchased to be shipped out within 30-60 days. I had a good number sitting in my inventory (waiting for a shipping offer day). But in my mind, the 25 I paid for shipping was to much, that being said on the flip side, I realize it cost them 12.50 to ship the flat rate boxes (there is a discount if you print your label through the USPS website). Given those boxes are free and I would think they'd have a good assortment of storage boxes for use, this would be an easy way to ship the cards and they'd be well protected...and as long as they have the inventory of these (flat rates are free) that leaves 12.50 for an employee to find the cards, ship and pack them. I wouldn't think it wouldn't take more than a hour for one cards to be found, packaged, and shipped.
