one guy didn't like my offer so he countered for 10 cents less than his original asking price. so i recountered with 10 cents more than my original counter... that went back and forth a few times LOL

upsbroker06, thanks for noticing. Yes, I do try to keep up with the thoughts on this forum. I appreciate the change in tone with the most recent posts. Your feedback is more than welcome.

For those of you who don't know me, I am Tim Getsch, founder and owner of CheckOutMyCards.com. I don't know how much time I will be able to commit to staying on top of this thread, but in the future I will probably try to vet proposed changes on this forum before announcing them on the blog.

I have heard your feedback about the shipping fee changes, and I have already updated the blog post to reflect that sellers will still be able to get their cards back for $25.

We are doing everything we can to keep fees as low as possible. I really don't want to increase or add any new fees.

Here is the deal with the processing fees...
At $0.10/card our budget processing service is wildly popular. In the past three months we have received nearly six months worth of work. As the trend continues, we obviously need to hire more people to satisfy the demand. It is very expensive to find, hire, and train new employees. We have to be extremely careful with who we hire because of the nature of the business.

We are trying to make our fee changes as minimally invasive as possible while still creating enough profit margin to afford bringing on new employees. Our other proposal was to increase the budget processing fees and to require payment up front.

I was under the impression that people would be more upset if we increased the budget processing fee and if we locked some of their funds up front than if we simply required payment to accompany the submissions. There may not be a solution that makes everyone happy, but I am all ears for any suggestions.

If we don't change anything, the budget processing service will just take longer and longer. We are now approaching a 3 month backlog and next month that might be a 6 month backlog.

Let me know how you would like us to solve this problem.

Side note: Yes, it actually does take us a lot longer to look up game used and autographed card, and I unfortunately can't go into details why. Let's just say that the reason our fees are so low relative to all the work we do is because we can do the other cards pretty fast.

Hey tim, as a buyer of mostly base and insert cards, i was wondering if it was possible to put a cap on shipping costs for buyers too... it makes it very difficult to buy base cards or inserts when we have to consider the 25 cents per card fee for shipping effectively making every base card atleast 25 cents each. I am not sure if using stock photos for base cards would keep costs down, but I would like to hear your opinion on this. I understand if you are trying to move away from base cards to higher priced cards, but i think a great aspect of the site is for set builders to complete their sets.

dooly, I hear you, and the best we can currently do is about $0.15 per card for shipping large quantities of cards. That is reflected in our proposed shipping fee changes. If we find a way to do things cheaper, we will consider lowering our shipping fees.
