I still believe the best way to advertise COMC is through a grassroots movement. It already happens through existing users spreading the word, but I think the next best thing is advertising at card shows and on other sports card related forums/websites as opposed to pouring money into print ads in beckett, scd, etc. I think most show promoters would be glad to put some kind of promotional material out for you if you send it to them. I would think you could get a lot of fliers made and sent all over the country to be put out at various shows much cheaper (or at least as cheap) than running even 1 ad in a magazine like beckett (much less an ad in every beckett, every month).

I actually love the business cards and think those that are selling on there if given the cards would include them in their shipments. I know I have done that with the ones I had. Ebay sales, online sales (obviously everyone on here knows about COMC, but for those that have bought from me on Naxcom (now sportsbuy) and youtube those buyers got the few cards I had). This by far I would think would be more effective as these buyers are already on the net. I couldnt tell you the last time I bought a beckett (although I did read about Blowouts writeup in the newest issue), SCD, or Tuff Stuff, etc.

You obviously didn't read the baseball beckett this month, nor went to the National last summer.

Both of those, COMC was either in the magazine or in Chicago!

Tim thanks for listening to the boards. We do want the website to succeed, it is an asset to the hobby. However, for awhile there it seemed like your employees were starting to spend more time figuring out fees if the card came in a top loader, if it was autographed, if there were multiple autographs from the same set for a lower fee.... I am glad that you are now charging one fee for everything, it will be a lot less confusing for everyone.

Thanks

I will usually add my COMC address to any orders I send out from other sites. I try to get people here and away from the other places. I have also gone back through my amazon and ebay/paypal accounts and emailed my old buyers with the address. there are a couple of other sites like linkreferral.com that I see a good amount of action on and who knows how many of them come to COMC. I also have posted on the local craigslist and facebook(which COMC has a page for) and I think myspace at one point. I think anywhere and anyway we can get the name out is good.

Just curious why do you think a random show promoter would be willing to put out fliers for the site? Are online sites like COMC competition for customers at card shows?
