just got a bunch of new cards listed. Also I'm willing to go 50% off a lot of my non-auto, non-game used, or non-rookie inserts. Check it out and make some offers.

so of all you that are apparently wanting to get rid of your inventory... is it to make room for new inventory or are you getting out because you do not have high hopes for the website?

Man after my own heart except I got busted by my middle daughter who once saw my COMC balance when it was over $200 and blackmailed me from telling Mom. It cost $5 for movie popcorn, but a well invested $5 it was.

I'm doing it for 2 reasons. 1) I got into a little bit of financial hardship recently and could use all the cash I can at this point. 2) I really think the latest change has affected the sellers and buyers of the site. I know some of the top dawgs on here are still doing well. But based on my recent sales and those that I've talked to it seems to be affecting both sides of it. I recently had a decent sized batch put up and some of the stuff was better quality and lower priced than what I had before. And it's just not moving. I'm even dropping prices daily and they still aren't moving. Others complain about buyers not buying. Buyers complain about shipping being too much. A lot of us expressed our concerns before the changes were made. A few things were done differently but the basis of it stayed the same. I completely understand why the changes were made. I just wish there was some other way that they could generate revenue than taxing the buyers with shipping. If the buyers aren't happy, they won't buy. If the buyers don't buy, the sellers aren't happy. Then the sellers don't put up as many cards. Then the buyers buy even less, etc, etc.

When I first came as a buyer I loved the fact that I could buy up as many cards as I wanted and only have to ever pay one price. I bought quite a bit of stuff because of it. Now, I don't have the desire to buy anymore. There is a wide variety of cards on ebay. The prices of the cards are about the same on ebay. The shipping prices are less on ebay. So why would I buy on COMC? At this point I'm only looking for stuff that I can't find for less on ebay. So far I haven't found anything.

As a seller, I still love everything about the site. I think the idea is great and the fees are completely fine with me. It's just the lack of buyers are what I'm worried about.

Now I say all this and I know there will be some people that will defend COMC to no end. And before these changes I was one of those people. But the question that Captain asked was why we were willing to sell off our entire inventory. And based on my opinion and my experiences that is my reasoning. I do hope that at some point there will be some changes that will help attract more buyers.

COMC definitely needs to find ways to get more cards to be sold and leave the site. As a seller I would feel it necessary to pick up some of the financial burden to make buying (and having the cards shipped) more attractive. Without buyers there is nothing. The total cost per card that you are paying on COMC should be competitive versus other venues, but it is hard to forget how much of the total is postage.

I don't understand why they don't set shipping tiers and make them more realistic. I understand that they are using the shipping fees to generate part of the revenue, but the reality is nobody is going to spend upwards of $25 to ship card, without ANY top cap on shipping. It's ridiculous. So they are shooting themselves in the foot because you just have buyers SITTING on inventory they would otherwise ship. As small as it may be, there is absolutely a carrying cost for the card inventory - that was made plainly obvious by the new "storage fee" model implemented on cards for sale. So, why not cut the buyers a break on shipping - it's not like they'd lose money, they just would cut their earnings a bit AND they would alleviate the carrying costs they are paying on all those cards that could be shipped if their prices were reasonable.

You should be able to ship say 200 cards for no more than $15, and up to 500 cards for $20, so on and so forth. 25 cents per cards adds up when you have several hundred sitting in inventory. As the previous poster stated - all it does is discourage buyers which breaks down the entire COMC economy.

I think it's the reasons stated above and the lack of timely manner on their part. People may say they don't mind waiting longer than a quoted timeline, but face it.. they do. And waiting forever to receive what you requested shipped to you isn't great either. COMC's DSR shipping time/charges rating would be crap right now if it had one..

The shipping costs do suck right now. But there is no way they could afford to ship 500 cards for $20 with their current system. I'm sure they will do something to alleviate the problem at some point in the near future. But if having the high shipping fees helps them catch up on uploading cards, so be it.

Making a few assumptions here about their current process. Cards are not filed by user per say. I'm guessing they are in boxes based upon shipment number. When a card is purchased and marked to ship, pullers have to look at a printed spread sheet and hunt down each shipment to pull that card. Shipping cards like this is not what I would consider the most cost effective way to do it.

My suggestion to help the situation would be this: Continue to organize cards by incoming shipping number. Instead of pulling cards when someone marks them to be shipped, transfer it to a users personal "box" where only cards belonging to that person will be. They can put a disclaimer on the site every time a card is purchased saying that it may take X amount of time for that card or cards to be available for shipment.

Another suggestion would be to include a mandatory check box when purchasing a card. 1 for "to be flipped" and 1 for "to be shipped." Cards being flipped can stay in the same spot in inventory while cards to be shipped can be transferred to the users box.

I am assuming that each card they have is filed in some sort of database. And I'm also assuming that each card that is listed on the site has a unique electronic ID. Those ID's should easily be trackable through the database system they have set up (or at least I would hope so, because if not, they don't have a very good IT guy setting things up). This would give them an easy system for tracking cards down and eliminate some of the searching process.

Just a few thoughts that have been brewing for a while. What do you guys think about that suggestion?
