I primarily sell Baseball and Hockey so I do not have as many concerns with the crazy buyers on Ebay.
From my research, I think cards are selling for more on COMC than Ebay and there is no time limit to sell them like Ebay, and it only costs 1 penny per month to let them sit there until the price I want is realized.

Congratulations if you can sell for more on Ebay. I'll continue to sell for more on COMC probably because I don't know the proper way to sell on Ebay. The cards I have sold so far for over $8000 would not have brought $5000 on Ebay over the past 2.5 months.

I realize my situation is different than others. I have no need for fire sales or the urge to accept all 50% offers. I enjoy responding to offers...accepting them when they are fair and countering when I want to get more. If everyone could do the same as me, cards would have been selling for more than Ebay prices for everyone all along.

Just my opinion, but.....

So what if it takes a month - they are just sitting at COMC right now doing nothing. And when I do have them shipped, I don't need them in my hand immediately do I? I'd rather pay significantly less and wait longer. I'm talking about shipping several hundred cards at once - we're not talking 10 card orders here. So under there current pricing I think shipping in the volume I'm looking at comes out somewhere around..... eleventy billion dollars!

I think we're mainly talking about bulk orders when we are discussing the weak points of their shipping cost structure. $3 for 1 card or $5.50 for 11 cards is not terribly far off from ebay/sportlots prices. So in situations where you are having 1 to 11 cards shipped, I would hope COMC could ship relatively quickly regardless of the service level. Its the 50, 100, 200, 500, etc count orders where the shipping costs are WAY out of line. But if you are having that kind of quantity shipped, you are probably accumulating the cards over a month or more period already and probably aren't as concerned about timely shipping. From my experience, it already takes them over a week from the time you place an order to be shipped till the order actually gets shipped for several hundred card orders. Whats another week or two, especially if you know it takes that long before you order. Having some kind of reasonable shipping option for bulk orders far outweighs any potential downsides like slow shipping.

But under the current arrangement you could place an order for 400 cards, pay almost $75 in shipping, and still wait 2 weeks to receive your cards. That kind of service is not going to win them many repeat customers much less new customers. I personally feel like they need to find a way to reduce their overhead costs for bulk orders, but even if they feel they can't... at least find a way so that the buyer isn't footing the bill. The removal of the shipping cap clearly discourages buyers from using the site. Any policies that would discourage potential buyers from using the site are completely counterproductive and need to be fixed.

yea, i didnt realize the shipping was changing the same time the posting fees changed, i already deposited money in my account. COMC is a great site, They just need to either make it more buyer or seller friendly, not discourage both at the same time.

Especially buyer friendly.

There will always be people wanting to sell when it only costs 1 penny per month to keep the cards listed. That in and of itself should keep the sellers happy. Now figure out a way to make the buyers so happy that they won't want to buy the same card from any other site.

What travels faster...word of mouth between sellers, or word or mouth between buyers?

My guess is sellers don't want to have to compete with other sellers as much as buyers want to brag about the great deals they get at a certain site. Just my opinion of course.

Without buyers there will be no COMC. I am definitely concerned with their slow turnaround in shipping orders. We are "outsourcing" this activity to COMC and if they are doing a poor job then we need to make our concerns loud and clear. I believe that the cost per card shipping thing can be rectified, but poor turnaround on shipments will chase buyers away in droves.
