I agree, but we need to attract buyers as much, if not more than sellers. Showing both column totals would attract a lot of buyers I would think. Maybe not though. It could end up doing more harm than good I suppose.

The first thing they need to correct is their shipping fee structure. I think we all can agree on that.

Most definitely on the fee structure. I would think a good advertising idea would be for them to show average % off BV for everything sold on the site. Figure on average cards sell for about 75-80% off BV there. Show the buyers that and it will make them think that the site is full of great deals.

I agree.

They should hold an annual seller's meeting somewhere in the center of the country to share ideas. Kansas would be cool since it's directly in the geographical center of the continental U.S.

Or a bunch of us could sit them down at the National and tell them whats what Maybe get a focus group together where they reveal their "patented" shipping process and allow us to make suggestions to streamline the process. Or volunteer our time to get things straightened out with the shipping process

i honestly dont think there is a problem with their "processes"... its their seemingly lack of staffing thats "killing" them and us.

they need to hire some high school kids and get them summer jobs or something.

It would be hard though to higher high school kids that you trust with $100,000 inventories. A lot of cards that are showing up on there now are worth several hundred to $1000 each.

Sad. I was hoping that i was just being too cynical and that there was some legitimate explanation. Kinda slimy move by the management, if you ask me. I can understand their motivation, but it doesn't make me trust their service as a seller.

You can't knock them for doing it and it doesn't make me think any less of them. Its a marketing move that they would be dumb not to use. Its no different than any other business out there, show the public what they want/need to see to get you to buy into their product. Simple marketing 101.

Not that I'm looking for more competition, but I thought I'd post my current stats to help you maybe trust their services from a seller's point of view.

General Account Info
Items in Inventory 5,785
Total Book Value $76,574.15
Items w/o Book Price 547
Total Asking Price $111,751.07
Items w/o Asking Price 2
Items Not for Sale 7
Items Ready to Ship 9
Total Sales $9,189.82
Items Sold 539
Items Purchased 1,010
Items Added to the Site 5,314

The "Total Sales" line item is the dollar amount I have sold. You compare that to my "sold BV", (of which I have never done before), which equates to $11,360 or 80.9% of BV is what I have sold my cards for. That's only a 19.1% discount! (You can find the $11,360 when looking up "sellers" on the COMC website).

What you will need to realize though, and this could be another very valid reason they don't do it, I have sold a lot of cards that don't have book values because they are "too scarce for pricing".

I hope this helps you and others as it actually shed some light on things for me as well.

Also, I should have stated that I started selling on that sight in February of this year...2009. Not too bad for 3 months worth of sales in bad economic times. It averages to around $100 per day, and I did very little work.
