Default eBay help needed.

Does anyone know of a good way to search for serial numbered cards numbered 1/xx?

Thanks.

enter into search

(2010,2009,2008,2007,2006,2005,2004,2003,10,09,08,07,06,05) (jersey,patch,auto*,sig*,jsy) (01,001,0001) (numbered,sn,serial)

add any other years, terms, or types you would like in the appropriate set.

basically this, there is no ONE good way, but you can narrow it down pretty good depending if your only looking for 1 or 2 certain cards.

Use the asterix '*'. When I want to search for Topps Chrome Refractors for example I type in 2010 Topps chrome Ref* Dustin Richardson and go from there. What you'd like to do is type in 2010 Topps Chrome Orange Refractor 1/* and that would give you every single card Orange Refractor numbered 1/xx.

What exactly does the asterix do?

It is a wildcard character, so the * means that any character or string of characters can replace the asterix.

S**t, can of course mean, well, you know, but it can also mean "Shot", or "Sort", or "Soft", or any other lame boring words like that. Although I think we all know what someone means to say when they type s**t.

So searching "Eric Decker auto*"; would give you "Eric Decker auto" and "Eric Decker autograph"? I'll have to start using that now, I tried it and a few popped up that only said autograph, and not auto

Well, okay, things are always more complicated than they first seem.

In this case, I'm guessing that "*" cannot mean nothing. "*" must be something. So "auto*" would not return "auto", because "auto" has nothing at the end of it whereas "auto*" must have something after the "auto".

Exactly how eBay handles the function of the "*" character is completely up to their website and how it functions code wise. I'm not sure they use the same logic that a site like google uses.

Someone else might know the answer to that.

I've found that quite often I have to search on eBay with BOTH things, like if I'm searching for a 2008 Bowman Chrome Chris Johnson Rookie autograph card, I often search for:

"2008 08 Bowman Chrome Chris Johnson Rookie RC auto autograph"

But I'm not expert on eBay searching, so I might not be doing it the right way.

I don't want to sound like Mr. Know-it-all, but I've been using the wildcard search for like 10 years now...

If you enter auto*, you get auto responses. No need to downsize to aut*.

Btw, doing auto*, cancels out au, just sayin'.
