Default What should I do? eBay situation. Need help ASAP

I sold a Joe Namath certified jersey /100 a few minutes ago and the buyer paid instantly.

Right after he paid, I get this message:

hello. sorry bout htis , but i told my brother i got this card and he said he already got me one for my birthday. is it possible to undo this transaction? again, sorry about this. thanks --corey

Seems pretty fishy. Dont you think you would check before you submit the offer?

Clueless on what I should do here because this has never happened to me before.

Could go either way. Once again ebay will likely win out. If you dont cancel it (mutual) you wont get your fees back, but at the same time, buyer can nail your dsr's

Not necessarily. He might have shown his brother after the fact because he was excited. His brother probably saw it and explained that he had already bought him that same card.

Good luck.

Not much you can do but refund and open a request and message him to cancel the transaction. If you send it, who knows what happens. If you refund, you still have the card. Not sure what the question is.

thanks for the help. I sent him a message questioning him. If he doesnt respond, I am going to assume he is BS'ing it and will continue the deal

Well that is his problem then, not mine. We have an "agreement" when he clicked commit to buy, and now he does not want to.

the question was should I really buy the story, or was it an impulse buy and now he wants his $ back

Well if he does not respond to my last message, I am going to assume the deal is still on...

You can always back out of a transaction by refunding the buyer through paypal and opening a Mutual Cancel Transaction through the "Customer Service" tab on ebay. If the buyer really doesn't want the card, the right thing to do is give him the money and cancel the transaction. The only thing you lose is the $.35 or so it cost you to list the card, then relist and sell it again. I had to do that for a $45.00 purchase this Christmas season when someone accidentally double upp-ed their order.
