Don't know. from what I can gather from talking to others is that they are doing it to everyone. the last few people I have heard this happening to it happened after they took advantage of eBay's free listing days. On Sunday I had 680 items end which is the most I have ever had end on 1 day. Based on all of that I can only assume that if you spike in listing items, compared to what you normally do they put a limit on your account.

Why!? no freaking idea, but I suggest if you want to increase the number of items that you do it gradually.

I have been a Top Rated Seller and Power Seller for a year or so now, getting eBay's highest discounts possible and never going over any limits they set for DSR ratings and such and I still go limited. its unbelievable what eBay is doing.

So they aren't letting you list anything new or is it limited in some other way?

This is absolutely nuts that they would limit a great seller with great customer feedback. Wow. A new level of nuttiness for eBay. Sorry dthimesch, hope it works out for you soon.

I am limited to 1800 items or $10,000 a month which ever comes first.

Thanks Alex. The monthly cap they put on my account is actually about dead on what my average has been over the past 3 months. This normally would be fine except that I have a couple items that I was looking to possibly move on ebay over the next couple months 1 valued at $3K-$5K and one at 7K or more. One item like that and that ties up nearly a months worth of listing on just one item I really wish in cases like this they would create exceptions but oh well.

From what I have heard or been told eBay will increase your limits 15-20% each month. I will just have to play by their rules until my limits are high enough.

I was limited to 30 items or $5,000 a month. I asked to be raised to 100 they did. I was a new seller, but still, 100 a month? I will ask again next month to be raised, or lower the $5000 but give me more listings. Can't stand the limit thing.

You have some of the best Ebay feedback that I have ever seen. Ebay is out of their mind in limiting your account.

I know it! I just don't get it. I know that they are pretty much doing it to everybody but by them doing it just means they are capping their own revenue. Only solution I can come up with is that they are afraid that if someone starts selling higher than what they consider a persons "norm" they are afraid the seller won't be able to handle it and they don't want to be slammed with customer service complaints about the seller. that is fine but they are going a little to far. At the same time I am pretty sure it is not a person making these decisions, it a dam computer program noticing the "higher than norm" listings, flagging someone which in turn the seller then gets limited. ugh.

It's because they guarantee buyer protection, so they have to limit the out of pocket expenses they might incur if too many deals go bad. They get worse each day.

Anyone with a store been limited yet? The wife has a theory that Ebay is seeing tons of listings on "freebie" day/days and figure those sellers have stuff to sell, so "convince" them to get a store. I can see how Ebay would go that route to try to "convince" sellers to buy stores.

I figured it had to do with cases opened, low DSR's, or something like that, but based on dthimesch's feedback, that sure doesn't seem to be the case.

So how about it? Any store owners get limited?

In talking with others about the situation I was told by one seller that he believes a store will not get your limits lifted although he did tell me that another seller he knows did the "Anchor" store paying ebay $299.95 a month and his limits got lifted. I would freaking hope that if you are paying eBay $299.95 a month on a subscription you wouldn't be limited.

Anyways, I can not justify $300 a month, I would do the second tier store at $50 a month in a heartbeat if I knew my limits would get lifted. I guess what I need to do is to get on ebay chat and ask a rep if I can get around the limits by getting a store.

I have a basic store and have been bumping up sales quite a bit, and they haven't bugged me with seller limits, yet. I hope they don't cause I have a ton of product coming in the next few months.

I should add, a store adds some really useful functionality. I can't remember exactly what the difference is, but you get the Store Summary page and I've found that to be tons better than what I had without a store. I can also create store categories, mailing lists, etc. I think a basic store is totally worth it.

Yes - I have a limit, but it's above 10k and I have yet to hit it. Every member with or without a store has a limit.

If your business is expanding, you have to talk to Ebay about increasing your limit. They are normally pretty good about it, but don't expect big dollar amount jumps.

I don't believe you will find it on your dashboard or any where else - I think you have to call in.

edit: I stand corrected.

They are worried you are about to commit a Mamma Bear style fraud.

I just searched your sales on TeraPeak and saw this:

11/23 - 1/21 3888 Listings, Sell through of 88.97%, average sale $6.28
9/23 - 11/22 2340 Listings, Sell through of 92.86%, average sale $20.00
7/22 -9/21 163 Listings, Sell Through of 67.48%, average sale $41.94
5/22 -7/21 174 Listings. Sell through of 79.89%, average sale of $22.37
3/22 -5/21 117 Listings, Sell through of 51.28%, average sale of $31.09

In the last two months, your average sale is about 20% of your typical average. You also increased your listings by about 70% over the prior month which was already 15 times your typical listing rate.

Your feedback is excellent but in all honesty it raises red flags like crazy to a buyer. You have been a member for 10 years but about 25% of your feedback is in the last month.

I realize this a scam is not the case and you were simply unloading some stuff but you look like a classic case of running up your feedback. It also looks like your account may have been stolen.

All VERY VERY valid points. Like I mentioned before, it has to be a computer programed that flagged my account for increasing my listings. I guess my problem with it is just the fact that even with the increased number of listings I have MORE than met their standards in feedback and DSR's that I don't think they should need to worry. just my opinion though.

I wonder if you alert them ahead of time if it would change anything. Kind of like alerting your credit card company before you take a trip or make a unusually large purchase.
