Default Seller backing out

Sold a card on eBay, 24 hr auction. buyer claims wallet was stolen and his bank accounts cleaned out.... right. In reality the guy bid and probably didn't think he'd really win the auction.

so if I'm correct my options are:
1. cancel the transaction and he gets off scott free
2. wait the 4 days until I can open an unpaid item case and wait 4 more days while he doesn't pay.

I don't really want to wait 8 days, but I don't want to just let this guy off the hook.

We hear this same story or various versions of this every day. Do not let him get off the hook without any consequences. File the NPB on him and hopefully this will detract bidders like him to not pay.

Just keep in mind if you go the npb if he responds he can leave negative feedback.

He can leave a neg if the transaction is cancelled too. Op has a message from the bidder stating he isn't going to pay. If he leaves a neg it should be removeable.

Worry about your own feedback before you worry about his. Be polite, cancel transaction, then block him.
