Exclamation If you ever take a sale "offline"...

I've been selling a fair amount for about 3 years now and for the first time I got a warning from eBay about doing deals off their site. I'm pretty careful about what I put in eBay messages, so I'm not sure if I hit a trigger for ending items early, if they actually looked at who sent messages and who I did PayPal deals with, or if someone ratted me out. I hadn't heard of anyone getting this type of message for awhile, so just wanted to give a head's up to everyone.

We recently learned that your eBay account has been involved in activity that violates one of our policies.

eBay members aren't allowed to use systems or techniques to avoid eBay fees. One example of this is including contact information or an offer to buy or sell an item outside of eBay within a Best Offer.

For more information about offers to buy or sell outside of eBay, go to:

--Important--
Future violations of eBay policies may result in the loss of member privileges, including restrictions of your buying and selling privileges and suspension of your account.

We appreciate your cooperation.

Thanks,

eBay

Maybe they are just phishing. Sending these out randomly hoping to scare a member or two.

This is probably easier for Ebay to determine than you would ever imagine.

Oh, I know--I've been waiting to get this message for a long time. I knew they used to use plants to find people doing this, but I hadn't heard of anyone getting warned for a long time so I thought I'd let everyone know that they may be enforcing this more closely than they have recently.

I do a ton of off eBay sales. It's crazy that I have never gotten one of those emails.

Of course now that I say that, you know what's coming right!?
