Default Help Refresh Me on Today's Sports Card Industry

Hi All -

New to the forum. I was collecting back in the 90s and then stopped when I found out my collection was close to worthless. It was a bit discouraging, but I am going through it again to try to free up space in my house and trying to sell them online for what I can get. I was hoping someone can update me on the selling process and what today's industry is all about.

What is the best way to unload base cards, sets, and inserts from the 90s? When are items considered worth grading? From what I've been reading and see online, the Beckett BV is absolutely worthless as price is driven by supply and demand I suppose. How do you guys determine the value of a card then?

If I was looking to hop back into the hobby as something of interest to do as well as make some extra income, what is the best way to go about it?

Thanks for taking the time to read and hopefully answer. Appreciate it.

If you are doing it for fun and enjoyment come on!!!

If you are looking to buy/sell to make a profit I would say RUN....There are so many people buying and selling for profit that it is hard to do.

That said it's still a great HOBBY for the sports fan but a tough way to make an extra buck.

Use them to start fires in the fireplace to keep warm. That is about all the comfort you will get out of those 90's cards. Cards now have autographs, patches, jerseys, skates, gloves and everything but the jockstrap on them now. If you are going to get back into it, you might as well put your money in the fireplace as well 'cause you are gonna lose a lot.
