and for the record, I am a comc cheerleader one hundred percent.
Keep in mind though, this challenge is entirely voluntary! Sure it's a time-waster, and likely going to be a fruitless affair for most resulting in a bunch of free labor done for COMC. As the current leader of the challenge I accept this. But if I do get something out of this then great. If not, I got to do something whilst home from school with Olympic curling on the television.

Instead of badges, they should have given free submissions.

I'm just glad that we can finally earn History Points by doing something which is actually useful. The previous way of earning History Points actually was a complete waste of time.

I don't disagree that COMC coulda done this or shoulda done that, but they are doing this now. If they want to grant additional perks for power users of the site, I'm all for that as well. At the very least, this is a step in the right direction. It should be encouraged, not denigrated.

I'm always in favor of free submissions, but in this particular case, they probably aren't the best option. COMC has 2 million unique items which need to be cataloged. All of this initialing is just one process in creating that catalog. It might require 10 or more processes to create the catalog. So, that would be 20 million processes. If COMC gave a free submission for every 50 processes, then they'd have to divert enough manpower to process 400,000 submissions. The whole reason for recruiting the customer base in the first place is to avoid diverting COMC staff. So, in this particular instance, badges and raffle tickets seem to be reasonable perks.

Certainly, the perk has been sufficient for COMC nation to crank out approximately 1 million processes in about 1 week's time. So, it would appear that bigger perks aren't necessary at this point in time.

Idea to make this even more competitive and better:

On the Leaderboard, beside the username, put a new column for the best time (record time) for that user
Example: AddisonD 1:41.52 43,800

Also, expand the Leaderboard a bit more

I noticed with the leaderboard, you can now click on user's names to go to their store.

OK, I get it now. This is COMC's way of legally owning the database of cards in order to move away from Beckett.

Will this thing be over when all the cards get indexed?

Beats me. It shouldn't be though. There should always be some mechanism where COMC users can perform minor tasks which improve the site. COMC's customers are very enthusiastic and should be used as a resource.

My understanding is, long term, this could ultimately lead to some sort of checklist software program. You download it on to your computer. You enter in all of the cards you have and want. Then, in real time, it tells you which cards on your wantlist are available on COMC for how much money, or which cards you own would sell for how much if they were listed on COMC. Then it would be relatively easy to use COMC to fill your wants, or to submit items to COMC which are actually worth submitting to COMC.

Seems like it could be adjusted for some future practical applications, such as checklisting uncataloged or vintage sets, or describing cards attributes. (not just so-called "sorting" of sets already checklisted)

I did lol. Too good for me! I was going to try to get top score on all 4 sports. But I just don't know hockey players and was struggling with it. And to beat that basketball score, oh man. Would have to take a miracle run of cards. Congrats to him, crazy score.

Thank you! It was a pretty lucky run and I was surprised at the score.

If they're really concerned about accuracy, they need to add an option to undo the last card in the sets. That's the only card you can't correct if you get it wrong and notice it.

One suggestion I have is to add a hotkey for "Undo", and maybe another for "Play again". Another that would be nice would be another to the dashboard.

Thanks for linking the user ID's on the leader board to the Ports. This all by itself is enough of a reason for me to participate in the inputting.

Yeah i'm nuttier then a port-a-potty at a peanut festival! haha but apparently not as crazy as the leaders, I'll settle for top 10.

Someone threw out the idea earlier of free submissions which I can't see happening (although I love the idea). What about instead of free submissions just like a front of the line pass for your already submitted items? The more challenges you complete then the higher priority your pending batch is?

***Just an idea. I don't post often and VERY new to COMC so please don't rip me a new one haha***

Good luck to everyone!

Question regarding the new "Sports" challenge.

If the item in question is a magazine with a football player on the cover, is that a "football" item, or "other"?

Answered in your thread but I should also answer it here. For all Magazines, select "Other" as your answer. If you get it as a wrong answer, Double Check it and I'll fix it up for you and award you the points.

Also, we just made another update:
Each Challenge now has it's own Leaderboard, including best times and most points.
A Community Progress bar tracks how close we are to achieving our goal for each Challenge.

Let me know how it goes.

Also a question, sometimes people show up in the wrong sport. Like I just got a Chet Walker card in football. Can there be a way to report that since I assume it's a mislabel somewhere? Or is it intentional and just a way to keep us on our toes? lol
