Box of 2011 Contenders from Fantastic Store = SSP!

I bought a box for Matt to break live on the Blowout Cards BlogTV channel. A nice little box featuring the following autos:

Greg Jones
Armond Smith
Jordan Cameron
Von Miller (redemption)
Blaine Gabbert

So a decent box with Miller and Gabbert, but with neither selling too well it wasn't amazing. However, got the cards in today and I'm checking out the Gabbert...

No Riddell Logo variation SSP /25! :flex:

Box got a lot better! Super tough hit as many of the variations had much higher print runs. 25 was the lowest of any of them and only a handful of players had print runs that low. With my luck to find one of those in a one box break is pretty amazing!

All cards are FT/FS except Miller only because I'm redeeming it since it's live. Will be available when it comes.

nice hit! personally like gabbert tho just ordered 3 boxes of 11 contenders as well cant wait to get em!

Nice hit but doesn't it seem like panini really cranked up the presses on 2011 contenders? Most overproduced 2011 product?

Thanks for the order! Great hit on the Gabbert! :)!

No...... why do you think this?
Because it provides the best value for any 2011 product
5-6 autos per box for $105 and a super draft class = winner

If it wasn't overproduced, you wouldn't see a 6 auto box of a great draft class selling for that cheap. The supply is big enough.

Supply will dry up quickly for the above stated reasons and box prices will soon be on the rise for a product with a proven history within the market.

2011 Topps chrome was produced in greater Qty than 2011 contenders as has been stated here before by the math guys:D

Chrome has nearly doubled in price while contenders has fallen. It has been several months for Contenders supply to dry up and it hasn't yet.

I'm not saying contenders is a bad product, but theyproduced a ton of it this past year. The fact that prices have decreased for such a great product and draft class is telling.

The_Reverend 10-11-2012 05:05 PM

When in the past has there been cases of Contenders at the price you purchased them compared to say Chrome. Falling prices on singles, falling prices on cases, falling interest in many of the big names, in my opinion that means over production, oh and need I remind us REDEMPTIONS!!!!!!

BOOMER7 10-11-2012 06:06 PM

I don't see this product dropping any lower than $100 box.
Has to much going 4 it. We can revisit this in 12 months and I 'm quite sure you'll see boxes at $125-130 and cases at $1500 plus. At the current time there isn't much of any 2011 product
tearing up the secondary market. This is a great buy at current levels compared to any other 2011 product.

friarbolt 10-11-2012 07:18 PM

I really like this product, I think it's already a good buy even if it doesn't drop more. Upwards of six autos for the price is really nice considering it's a popular brand for resale value. Combine that with all the short prints and variations that help add value and in a world where most products have a very small ROI on average this product was a big win in my book.
