So Fed Ex just dropped off my redemption replacement for the Calvin Johnson Trilogy Auto Patch that was depleted from inventory. Got a player I requested so I was happy...but WTF UD!!!!! Is this even a card.


Doesn't equal the value of the CJ so my friends at UD will be getting a call later today

Its a nice peice, very hard to come by. But I agree its not exactly equal value. Haven't seen any on the bay lately, but the Marino books @ 200 (my guess is about 100-125 bay value?)

The Calvin books @ 250, so yeah, your at least 50 undervalued.

Yeah first thing I did was check Beckett because I have never seen anything like it before. Numbered 9/50. Plus its from 1999...did they knock the dust off before sending it. Guess I can't complain because I did get one of the several players I requested. But was assured what was sent would equal or greater value. I am greedy by no means but UD came up short yet again!! Hopefully a call over to UD will net me some compensation to make up for being short changed.

Tell me about it. At first I was like huh....is that a mini cd rom!? Was this stuff sold in packs or as an insert? I know it was when the card industry was struggling and they were trying new ways to jump start things.

They were packs. You got one CD (on the cd it has a bunch of interactive player stats I believe) along with a few cards(?). I've got a few at my house, but never done much with them. I know my local card store still has some if that tells you anything. Not sure on what the auto cd odds were. My guess is pretty rare.

Not to burst your bubble (feel free to prove me wrong w/ an Ebay link), but Trilogy Calvin Johnson card sales were not even close to reaching their supposed book value of $250. The jersey swatches on those cards were so small it was hard to get anything other than a 1 color patch. I think you made out on the deal w/ a nice Marino ON DISC autograph. If guru doesn't take it I would be interested in it. Personally I think you made out on the deal. My 2 cents...

I agree with you to an extent. The few cards that made it out to people sold for about 125 as well as some of the redemptions. But think UD still should have honored the BV of 250 in replacement. Don't get me wrong Marino is HOF'r and I am glad I didn't get stuck with a bunch of crummy autos.

The only problem with this argument is that UD doesn't care about the Beckett value or the Tuff Stuff Value.

They determine equal value.

I've spoken to Customer Service Reps at UD for exchanges and redemptions and they've looked up the Beckett BV to get replacement values.

ya im pretty sure you can buy a whole case of 1999 Powerdeck for about $1.99! Thats probably a pretty touch pull and its a nice auto of a great player. I would be pretty pissed too if i got that sent to me. You should have requested one of the boxes they send to beckett!!!!!!!!!

Just got off the phone with UD Redemption Department. They do use price guides to determine value when sending out replacements. There policy is the replacement is final......oh boy!!! He thought there should have been another card in the envelope. The UD rep did say that he will have another card sent out as they clearly made an error. WAIT UD ADMITTED TO MAKING A MISTAKE! Claims new card will be a suprise, an auto, and I will quite happy with it.

Can't wait to get my Johnnie Lee Higgins auto!! Will update you guys when the new card gets here.

If they admitted a mistake, thats already huge. They seem to honestly be doing better with they're redemption replacements lately, so you never know. 50-75, or even 100 auto could be a decent player...although they did send you a 99 Marino Auto....who konws maybe this time you'll get 97 Legends Mark Duper

The only thing UD did was to send you something and see if you would be one of those customers who is happy and doesn't call back. They were simply thinking he'll be happy with this and that takes care of another screwed customer. Most people I bet just take what they get and thats it. So no, UD doesn't admit to anything except for taking your money for over priced products.

That is surprising about UD using Beckett to determine a replacement vale.

I am still in for a purchase of the Marino Auto if it is for sale. I would have been happy with that replacement. Again, if you want to get rid of the card, PM me. I will be happy to add it to my collection.

Yeah but Fish gave me some great advice to be player specific for the replacement...which I did...Marino was one of several names I gave them. So they listened for the most part. Hopefully the next card will be enough to bridge the value gap. The Marino auto, a bit obscure, will hold good value over time.
