I actually thought this was a great move. Batch is done and they signed the (probably) best two potential backups out there. That not only ensures that they get the pick of who they want after watching them play for awhile, but it also takes both options away from any other team that has a QB injury in the upcoming weeks--and I can't believe Batch will be the only guy to go down. Maybe they will end up being able to keep one of them and trade the other for something decent.

Now it seems they were both just brought into training camp. It took all of one day to send Culpepper packing and sign Leftwich. As a Steeler fan, I have NO problem having Byron Leftwich to replace Charlie Batch........hopefully no one but Ben will be lining up behind center (OK, maybe Dixon for a few "Slash-type plays") anyway!

I agree that I would much rather have Leftwich over Culpepper. But would really rather see Batch backing up Ben. Batch is still a very capable NFL caliber QB. I'm sure that the last few years a lot of teams would have liked to have him as a number 1 guy.

Trent Green would/will die the next time he takes a big hit. Guy needs to hang 'em up and let it go. He had a ton of potential in STL but was way to injury prone his entire career.
