Default Hot Packs?

Might be a stupid question, but how are sellers positive their pack is hot? I've came across tons of "hot packs" on ebay, but I'm always pretty sketchy about stuff like that, especially because I've never actually hit anything decent in a pack or box :-/ lol.

Maybe they let them sit on the stove a bit and get nice and toasty!

I agree, I once bought 5 packs from one seller and got nothing but crappy single color jersey cards. Just remember, the reason they know they're hot is because they know exactly what's inside.

if you do a search on this site of hot packs you will find plenty of threads that show they are nothing but a waste of money you will get autos or game used that are worth less than you paid for each pack! just spend your money on random packs and hope to hit a monster from hobby!

ahh, yea i've always been really skeptical, but lately I've been getting irritated because I've bought 18 packs on an ebay auction, a box today, a couple packs here and there, and I have never had anything significant. No auto, no gu, nothing. So it gets to a point where I just want to open a pack and find something good haha. But I wasn't meaning to know any "trade secrets" on finding a hot pack, just wondering the type of guarantee or risk.

Thanks everyone.

start buying your boxes and loose packs right here from Blowout. they usually have the best prices and have loose packs of the hot products for sale.

You don't have to use Paypal.

Generally this is not a good idea. If someone is selling packs on eBay it is usually because they opened a box or case and got the "big hit" and these are the scraps... Same for someone (not everyone, but most) selling boxes on eBay. Usually these are the boxes left after a "case hit" has been pulled.

Plus, you run the risk of paying too much for packs on ebay with others upping the bidding price. Better to get your packs or boxes from blowout (or a few other reputable sites that shall not be named, for fear of blasphemy on here). It's a set price and usually a fair deal with intended manufacturer odds.

they have ways of feeling them out, or weighing them. depending on how good the searcher is, and honest on auctions will determine how good cards CAN be. the shady ones open the better packs, leave the junk jersey card packs alone and sell those.

even though ive found a couple so called reputable HOTPACK sellers, its highly frowned upon around these boards to support these guys, just and FYI, lol. but no matter what its always a gamble to buy them.

I bought some once got my money +, beckett price anyways. Youll find out what I mean by that later, anyways I wouldnt do it again, just buy boxes or singels. You know what you are gonna get on your singles, and it is a blast to open boxes.

You can also weigh them...a few years ago with UC hockey I bought a case and weighed all of the packs to the .1 gram...The lightest four packs had the rookie patches in them, while the heaviest packs each had an auto. I didn't sell any packs off as I planned on opening the case, so I thought I'd do some research...

The "guarantee" is that there is a 99.9999 chance of getting jack sheet in the "hot packs". Like others have said, spend your money on hobby packs and boxes from Blowout

i bought 6 upper deck hot packs a few years back and got 6 steve slaton jerseys just proof they open the packs. there is no way that would happen out of a hobby box or case. thats why i only by certain singles and hobby boxes from bo.
