Default GAI losing credibility?

Been trying to pick up some Sports memorabilia for my "mancave" and have been coming across some very suspect authenticated auto's that just dont look like. Example below...

MATT RYAN Falcons Autograph SIGNED Football GAI COA - eBay (item 330522608812 end time Feb-22-11 07:34:29 PST)

EDIT: Sorry for Putting PSA in the title. Its late and Im tired, lol. GAI

Wow...It may be his, but It doesnt look like his normal signature. I guess signing all the sheets of stickers his auto may look rushed. His auto on cards is sweet..even in the 2010 products, and they are consistent from 2008 - 2010...

He could have just signed a few autographs that day and took his time. I would definately question it a little, but GAI is usually on point (atleast in the past).....

Yeah, doesn't really look like his auto to me either. Personally, when picking up certified pictures, etc, I've been avoiding GAI, especially when I have heard that the vast majority of their Joe DiMaggio Certified autographs are fake (or so I've been told...not by some authority but just someone that I trust with this sort of info.) They might be better with newer guys, but just would rather spend an extra bit of money and get something PSA/DNA, Steiner, UD, Stack of Plaques, Mounted Memories or JSA. Just my two cents though. I'm certainly no professional when it comes to these things, but most of my pieces I have anymore are Steiner.

That Matt Ryan is fake, and GAI has already lost all credibility among the autograph community

GAI started accepting everything to avoid "losing" the business.

I wouldnt trust anything from them.

You both beat me to it.

GAI used to be legit and one of the more trustworthy authenticators out there. The economy pushed them to the darkside. The were forced out of their offices for not paying its $8,400 monthly rent back in 2007. It was all down hill from there. I've seen a ton of fake Walter Payton stuff, all being submitted from the same forger, pass GAI, get slabbed as authentic and start popping up at shows and eBay nearly every day. It makes me sick.

It sucks for me since I have a ton of older GAI stuff and its all taking a hit since the company cant be trusted any more.

Ouch. Sorry to hear that about all those you had. I had heard they had started to authenticate just about anything anymore, but wasn't sure precisely why.

Yeah, I have a Hank Aaron ball that might as well be unauthenticated.

I had five items all authenticated by GAI, but then I crossed them over to PSA/DNA and they all came back authentic; therefore, I haven't had a problem with GAI. Am I lucky? Perhaps...but I still acquire products they authenticate. I am in the minority here, but that doesn't surprise me.

i have a Mantle and a Ted Williams that GAI authenticated, this was years ago though...both passed PSA crossover with no problems...guess it depends on what it is and when it was signed.
