Default football - 2010 Exquisite Football (4 cases) SCAN HEAVY

None are for sale here. If you want some of these cards, all of them (except the redemption's) are for sale on eBay NOW (ending Sunday April 10th), just click on my eBay link to the left. Free, fast and safe shipping, and I treat cards like they were my own.

1200 cases produced (estimate):
* 3465 base cards total (/35 print run times 1-99 check list, 35 * 99 = 3465)
* I pulled 1 /35 per box, except in 1 box I pulled a 1/1 base card, so that’s 3 x /35 base cards per case
* 3465 (total number of base cards) divided by 3 (# of base cards per case) = 1155+ cases total
* Since the base parallels (are there only 1/1 parallels?) will replace some /35 base cards, there are actually more cases than 1155, so I’m estimating 1200 cases

Going into the break, I thought UD needed to have a stellar hit with this release in order to stay alive. If 2010 EXQ FB is a bomb, UD will be in serious trouble, as if they already aren’t in serious trouble! After opening 4 cases, it seems like UD did a very good job, but I’m just not sure it is enough to make the product the success it needed to be. But who knows for sure, time will tell.

Obviously I was not happy with my break, as I felt like I could have done much better. Not sure if my 4 cases are representative, or just bad luck. Seems like other breaks have been much better. But still, I like the product. I would much prefer Pro logos and pictures. But I think UD did a fine job with what they could legally do.

Coolness factors:

* The cards are very cool looking and have a very high quality feel to them.
* All the auto’s are on card.
* The quality control is very good seems a little better than 2009 Exq.
* I really like the addition of 2011 RC’s into the product as it adds some extra value.
* The base cards are limited to /35, which is a GREAT idea by UD, makes them more valuable.
* Most boxes have 8 cards, 1 more than the published number. Some even have 9 cards in them.

Lameness factors:

* Some of the redemption cards do not give any indication as to who the player is, so the only way to know is to redeem the card. That makes selling pulled redemption's a blind gamble. I redeeming all my redemption's and the website still isn't telling me what the cards will be. That is lame, isn't it?
* There aren’t enough Legend and Star hits, especially auto's. This product is too RC focused. Or maybe my cases were poor?
* I pulled an “Inscription” card of Jahvid Best, but the card only has an auto, whereas it is obvious from the space on the card that the player was supposed to write some inscription in addition to the auto, right?
* Can't really find too much else wrong with this product. Overall I really like it.

SALES RESULTS UPDATE 04/18/2011:

Just for informational purposes, I've sold almost all of the cards from this break, and wanted to post those results.

Total Cost of 4 Cases: $6000.00
Total Gross Sales to date: $4269.72
Cards remaining to be sold: 7 redemption's

RC Book Marks Y /50 TDB
RC Book Marks Y /50 TDB
RC Auto /65 #134
RC Auto /65 #155
RC Auto /65 #156
RC Auto /65 #176
RC Auto /65 #183

I think it's safe to assume the redemption's will gross another $250 in sales, possibly more if the RC Book Marks end up being a hot 2011 RC.

So total gross sales of: $4269.72 + $250 = $4519.72, possibly more if some of the redemption's are really nice.

That's a gross loss of 1.5K, and that's before fees. Seems pretty bad. But considering I didn't pull any high quality hit in the 4 cases, like a Bradford or Tebow RPA, only pulled one 1/1 which was a base card 1/1, I don't think sales were that bad. If I had pulled a Bradford or Tebow RPA, that would have sold for 1-1.5K, which would have pulled up the gross sales to near even. If I'd have pulled 2 cards like that then I'm in the green. That's pretty darn good. I do think my luck was not so good on the cases, as I saw many other case breaks that did have a high quality hit in them.

In my opinion, this product was a very nice success for Upper Deck, both for distributors, case breakers, and collectors buying the single cards. I think this product says a lot about UD's ability to produce high end cards, and the markets desire to have those cards. I sure hope UD gets back their Pro licenses, both for NBA and NFL, and start producing pro licensed cards again. I think 2010 UD EXQ proves once again that they really know how to deliver a good product to the industry, and that ought to go a long way in helping them get back a pro license, shouldn't it? I hope so.

Thanks guys. I hope you guys are right. I think I hit a ton of medium good stuff. No huge hits (although the Cam Newton /25 and Dez RPA /75 will bring a nice chunk) but the more I look at everything, the more I agree with you.

I do like the product.

4 cases and not a single Tebow or Bradford RPA? Seems kinda rough.

Thanks for sharing. You will definitely make some good $ back with the majority of your pulls. The Bryant looks great. A quality RPA of Bradford /Tebow or Suh would have put you over the top. I will be definitely be bidding on the Kapernick. He went to my alma mater. Best of Luck to You.

i think this was a solid break. the dez is sweet and should do well. the newton was a nice pull and should sell well.

from a seller's perspective adding the new rookies is a nice bonus imo

Nice looking cards. Its a shame they didn't use a orange/white Vol patch on that Quad with Peyton.

SALES RESULTS UPDATE:

Just for informational purposes, I've sold almost all of the cards from this break, and wanted to post those results.

Total Cost of 4 Cases: $6000.00
Total Gross Sales to date: $4269.72
Cards remaining to be sold: 7 redemption's
  • RC Book Marks Y /50 TDB
  • RC Book Marks Y /50 TDB
  • RC Auto /65 #134
  • RC Auto /65 #155
  • RC Auto /65 #156

  • RC Auto /65 #183
I think it's safe to assume the redemption's will gross another $250 in sales, possibly more if the RC Book Marks end up being a hot 2011 RC.

Wow 1.5 k loss, but you've probably hit it big in other breaks otherwise you wouldn't be willing to spend 6k on anything. Thanks for the show!!!

That's a huge loss still (like 25%, right)

Heh, yeah, 25% loss is right. But I still love the product, I just didn't pull any monster hits. It happens. I'm hoping some upcoming baseball releases do well for me. (Bowman and TTT) I got in at great early prices. Summer is brewing. MLB is just warming up. Economists say we'll have 3% growth this year. I'm READY!

If you got in early on the 2011 Bowman you should do well if you sell it right, but TTT is sure-fire money loser unless you have a golden horseshoe stuck up your ass. Nice looking cards though.

Well, I just checked and there ain't no horseshoe up there. But Topps is adding 2 extra hits per box in 2011 TTT. Sure, some will be dogs with single color jersey's. But some will be nice too, I hope. They've got this "Unity" relic card thing, which is really gimmicky, but maybe some collectors will go for it and fight over the cards. Plus my entry price is excellent. Plus I'm really trying everything I can this year. I've been breaking like a mad man, and it isn't time to quit just yet. (even though Classics NBA really pushed me to the edge)

And what do you mean by "Selling Bowman right"? I presume Draft is selling in lots, whereas Bowman is more of a sell as a set type thing. Right? Any tips you can dish out, I can take!

YEs, if you got into 2011 Bowman early and are willing to sell the sealed boxes/cases you will probably be able to make a quick score, but IMHO not if you decide to bust it and sell the cards. 2011 is ALL about Harper...2010 Bowman had a ton of heavy hitters including Strasburg's 1st Bowman auto & Strasburg's 1st Bowman Chrome card AND Harpers 1st Bowman chrome card...plus 1st Bowman Chrome autos of Ackley, Tate, Castro, etc.....

I was hoping to win the Dez and Newton you had up, but someone wanted them more than me. Nice cards, and thanks for sharing.

The Newton is already paid for and shipped.

But the Dez RPA was won by a 4 feedback Canadian bidder, who hasn't paid or responded to any invoices. I give 14 days for payment, then a non-paying-bidder notice goes out. (takes another 4 days) If after that I still have the card, it'll go up for bid again. (April 28th)

Cracked 3 cases today, didn't get anything crazy but some nice stuff. 2 tri fold signature book redemptions, 1 bradford/tebow bookmark, 1 bradford triple jersey bookmark, newton /99, mike williams RPA, Emmanuel Sanders RPA, Spiller RPA, Rivers 1/1 base, nothing crazy but should come close to paying for itself
