2003 expired redemption - UD's response

Last night I pulled a Terrell Suggs patch auto out of a box of 2003 SPA. I emailed UD last night and here is the response that I just received.

"Dear Mr. Vincent,

Thank you for your email.

Unfortunately, expired redemptions cannot be exchanged past their expiry date. We feel that we provide sufficient time for all redemptions to be processed and that customers buying products from previous years should expect some time sensitive material to not be valid any longer.

The logistics and cost of maintaining an inventory of cards for all product releases would be prohibitive and entail a significant raise in the amount Upper Deck would have to charge for its products. We feel the current timeframe for redemptions is a reasonable medium.

We apologize that we will be unable to assist you in regard to that expired card, but if you forward me your address and phone number I can send complimentary product to assist you in this situation."

Damnit. I want that Terrell Suggs patch auto. Besides the Carson Palmer, the Terrell Suggs is the second best patch auto from that year in my opinion. I guess I'll give them my address and see what kind of garbage they'll give me.

BTW - What would that Suggs card be numbered to?

Sorry bro, I warned all of this. When I cracked 18 boxes of this I hit close 5-10 redemptions back in 03. The 2nd best IMO would be the leftwich, he played really well during the pitt game when Roethlisberger went down. Someone will throw some coin at him in the offseason.

Sorry to hear that. I do not like buying older products past 2 years. It is easier to just buy the AU RC. That is just how it is now!

Sure I think there is a few teams that might have new coaches and will bring in players that fit there system. Leftwich has a long throwing motion, which is knock, that and slow as heck.
San Fran- Im a niners fan, and I think shaun hill is a good back up. The niners need a quarterback that can throw the ball down field. They have not had one of these since Steve young and even that was iffy on the deep ball.

St.Louis- Mark Buldger needs a change of scenery and with his production this season, and high priced contract I could see him fitting in here.

Buffalo- Leftwich has proven that he can play in the cold. Marshall, and vs washington a few weeks back. Hes a big strong guy that can handle the elements.

Look do I think he is a quality nfl starter... no... However Someone will give him a chance to compete for a starting spot ....

I do think their response was kinda weak though about keeping an inventory, they usually can't even fulfill current redemptions and instead they send replacements, why can't they send replacements for expired redemptions?

Even though Orton is doing a decent job in Chicago I think we could use a quarterback like Leftwich. At least it might get Grossman gone.

Pretty sure its /250. Very suprized to see them actually willing to send you anything to be honest. Three years is a legit time frame for to honor redemptions. What gets me is other companies will honor them if you send them in (Donruss)/ I give them a thumbs up on this one for willing to send you something.

I've sort of lost a little respect for Donruss myself really. Well...guess I ought to hold off judgement until I get these "Silver Signature Series" they are sending me that are supposedly only if you are getting a card replaced that they can't give you. The nice thing I will give them a thumbs up on though as they are going to send me the cards stamped with 'no auto' on them. So the Ferguson should be nice even with the dual patches on them.

I've never had to send in an expired redemption yet to any company...and I've had luck with UD never having to have one replaced...but I've got a bad feeling with one I'm waiting on.

Oh...did have one bad experience that they would not replace a simple Dion Phaneuf RC that was damaged since it was like a month past the one year deadline on a product.

I sent a response to this email that I got from UD on 12/16/2008. Today they finally replied to my offer of sending a money order for 20.00 and the expired redemption for the Terrell Suggs patch/auto. I told them I'd include 20.00 for the time to find the Suggs card and to ship it. I was denied almost a month after I sent the email. They asked for my address to ship me something... I wonder what it could be

I pulled a buy back auto from a box of UD Basketball a few years back. It was #/20 or something. I sent it in with a note that said "I understand this is expired and if you can't do anything, so be it."

A short while later I got a package from UD with the redemption card back and an auto of the same guy and it was #/10. (I forget the actual numbering but it was lower than the one I submitted). I was happy.

The player was nobody big...Michael Finley or something, but it was my first buy back auto I had ever pulled.

Buffalo? Really? Man I think Trent Edwards is the future there i doubt they would bench him for Leftwich- maybe a team like houston could use him - but Shaub is doing ok - of course i may still have on my blinders after watching that horrible excuse for a QB David Carr for so many years ,after seeing him run them into the ground i would have liked to have seen anyone else start (that includes people like Kordell "slash" Stewart) - god what a waste of money and time Carr was - Sorry i live in south texas (20 min from houston) so i am forced to watch Texans games every weekend.

Rams are not going to part with Bulger who you fooling! He may have played terrible this year but we had a terrible coaching staff. Now that we got Steve pulled away from the Giants things are about to change. If the Rams do work in a new Qb it will be via draft.

Anyways I hope they send you something decent, maybe a Mike Vick auto to ease the pain, lol!
