Wise men, and I agree with them.

As a card collector, you are saying you don't want cards?? Not only that but as high-end as it gets cards??

To reiterate, we are not frowning upon selling the cards once you bust the box. It just seems that whoever gave you the box wanted to give you cards and also the experience of opening the box. Correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't busting a box of NT be a big deal to you? I know it would be for me!

Only if they don't fit, Or something of that nature and then I just exchange it. I also think that I would be disrespectful if you just sell what they have given you. If they knew you were just going to sell it they probably would not give it to you.

I suppose you can look at it that way (and I won't argue if that is how you feel) IMO the act of "giving" someone something implies that you may do with it what you want. I think it all depends on the context. If I give my old baseball bat, I wouldn't care what you did. But, if I give you a family heirloom, I would probably care.

I agree with most of the above that it would be kind of weak to just sell the box. If the person who gave it to you knew you only wanted money, then they would have given you money. They went out and found the box specifically for you. I've received fairly expenses boxes that I didn't even have much interest in, but I have opened them every time. Nothing hurts much more, in the gift-giving game, than someone returning something for cash, IMO.

This is the reason our beloved hobby is in the state it is in. Greed has taken over. It's no longer about the enjoyment of the cards, but "How can I make money?" This mentality has made it's way all the way up to the card manufacturers, and it sickens me. Card collecting is something I hoped to pass on to my son, something we could bond over, but it's been perverted into a money grab.

This shouldn't even be a question....Who wouldn't jump at the chance to bust NT?

End of rant.

Very well put. It seems like less and less people collect these days and everyone is out to try and make a buck on something that we used to enjoy as a hobby.

If they are buying it for you and you don't want it, just tell them that, and maybe they'll get you something else that you want

Open it. How would you feel when he asks you what you got? Then you tell him that you sold it.

Gifts are meant to be opened. Your friend could of sold it himself if he wanted but he chose to give it to you instead.

i dont think it would be right for someone to give you a nt box and you sell the box for a profit, atleast open it and then if you get some nice hits sell them. I just dont think the guy giving you the box would appreciate it if you jsut turned around and sold it

In my opinion you are nothing but a scumbag if you sell the box, whoever is giving it to you obviously wanted to to rip it open and enjoy it and if you just sold the box for cash that'd be a real scumbag move.

Look at it this way, you said you only do singles. Let's say you wanted to give a friend a nice single you had for his personal collection and it was worth a good deal of money, but after you gave it to him he decided to sell it on ebay and pocket the cash. HOW WOULD YOU FEEL?

Sorry for being a dick, I just had a couple drinks tonight and a morals issue like this really bothers me

You could pick a card out of your break and do a giveaway on here. Pay it forward.
