What a dumb move, they will wish they hadn't come next December.

I am shocked ...about as much as Denver firing Shananhan- I guess they figured Monte Kiffin was leaving might as well start all over again

You guys should listen to the Local Sports Radio in the area here. No one liked Jon Gruden here. Most fans assumed Jon Gruden won the Super Bowl with Tony Dungy's team and never really gave Gruden credit. Jon Gruden is not a players coach. He gave soooo many excuses of why they lost games when they lost games. Now the question is, who are they going to hire to take his place. It seemed funny when I heard that the Bucs signed Joe Berry back as LB coach after leaving the Lions(after his father-in-law was canned as head coach. Because Gruden technically didn't let him leave the team. Jon Gruden always thinks of himself and no one else.

Didn't see this one coming. Gruden put together some very good teams with arguably middle of the road talent. He seemed to genuinely make the Bucs better.

Too bad the Detroit Lions already signed their coach. Gruden could have been a good choice (not that he would ever consider the offer).

Gruden will find work soon.

Everybody is still crying over the Bucs letting Dungy go and "it wasn't Gruden's team". I lived down there when it all went on and I'm still a huge Bucs fan! I loved Tony Dungy(still do), he just couldn't get the offense going down in Tampa. Gruden isn't a coach for the momma's boy...which I like. He's not going to sugar coat it. People in Tampa just can't take that kind of stuff after being babied by Dungy for those years before Gruden. I've always been a Buc fan and this won't change that. Maybe it was time for a change. Who am I to say? Man, those Glazers and that seven year itch. lol Go Bucs!! Good luck Jon!

Oh well, strange days in the NFL

Gruden knows his stuff, the Bucs fall from a 9-3 mark to not making the playoffs cost him for sure. The direction he wanted to go compared to ownership must have differed seeing how this took so long to happen.

Gruden will certainly be picked up somewhere....I bet he would like a shot to beat the Raiders twice a year...LOL

The Bucs screwed him by letting him this late in the game. He would have been a good fit in Cleveland. Winslow and Edwards would hate him.

Gruden had no QB for most of his tenure there and still won more than he lost. He is one of the best coaches in the NFL today and will have no problem getting a great job after next season.

Gruden is too impatient of a coach to give the Starting QB reigns to a young quarterback. All he does is get Vets to fill in at QB who know the West Coast Offense.

And I hope he doesn't go to the Jets!!!!

Simms had the reigns until the ruptured spleen and other complications. Now that's a good example of a young QB, unless you think he should have started Josh Johnson this year??

You could be right though, the organization could have drafted a QB higher once they knew Simms was done. Was this Gruden's draft philosophy or the owners/GMs....I don't follow the Bucs close enough to know.

He'll certainly land a nice job somewhere though.

The only reason Simms got the starting job was because Brian Greise got injured and then Bruce Gradkowski didn't work out in his starts. Gradkowski isn't Tom Brady(Late Rd. draft pick). If Simms was the answer why didn't he earn the starting job this season? He was healthy but Gruden said that he wasn't.

Gruden wouldn't flank Galloway & Bryant becase Galloway was "injured." Gallow has his own radio show and stated himself that he was a 100%. Gruden blames this lost season on injuries that never were. If you had one bad play you went straight to his doghouse.

gruden squeezes more from the talent (or lack thereof) he has than any coach in the NFL. the QB thing may be his fault, but the players he has all sucked, including and especially chris simms.

Has he ever drafted anyone good???.......Ever???

Cadillac Williams can't stay healthy
Michael Clayton was a one year wonder.
Davin Joseph, Jeff Faine, Sean Mahan & Aaron Sears are the best draft picks. All offensive lineman.

Jeff Faine wasn't a draft pick. He was picked up this past offseason from the Saints. But, either way, you're right...his best draft picks were o-linemen. Although I think Talib and Tanard Jackson are solid players as well. Either way, I just don't see how we (the Bucs) got better by letting Gruden go and signing Raheem Morris. Oh well, either way, I'll still pull for my boys. Go Bucs!!
