Garrard out in Jax
Jay Glazer of FOX Sports reports the Jagaurs are set to release starting QB David Garrard
Luke McCown, not rookie Blaine Gabbert, will start the opener against the Titans. The move calls to mind coach Jack Del Rio's last-minute decision to part ways with Byron Leftwich in favor of Garrard just prior to the 2007 season. Due $8.075 million this year, Garrard wasn't financially viable in the "bridge quarterback" role for a team with little hope of contending. Garrard will have little time to learn the offense in his next destination, but he does make sense for a team like Seattle. QBs coach Carl Smith was Garrard's offensive coordinator from 2005-06 |

Wowzer!! :eek::eek: |
WHAT??????????????????????????
|
kinda lame on their part, should have done this weeks ago and let him latch on with another team with a chance of playing.
|
Would be a good pick up for the Colts, pick up a division rivals QB who is a good QB. Especially if Manning misses 1/2 the season or more. Collins isn't going to get you to the playoffs, but Garrard could.
|
Chiefs should pick him up for a 1 week deal. Or maybe as our backup this year bcause Palko is awful. Just a pipe dream though.

It's on his twitter. Weird move right before the season opener. Just getting ready to hand the reigns over to Gabbert I guess. Let Luke McCown show what he can do until Gabbert is ready. |

Unless the Chiefs run a very similar offense as the Jaguars do, there's no way he'd be ready to play in a different uniform by Sunday. Wherever Garrard ends up, it's not going to be to hold a clipboard. My guess is Seattle or Indy (if the Peyton doom rumors are true). |
Damn this sucks for the Colts. Garrard would have been a huge pickup and has the arm to get them to the playoffs.

Looks like a great move if you like to lose games

Definitely. Garrard can get it done imo, he just doesn't have any weapons. He has a big arm and is mobile. He also doesn't turn the ball over much. I kind of wish the Colts could sign him! |
Well, with Del Rio on a "playoffs or your fired" situation, I'm sure he didn't want this move done. I understand the business side of it though.
|
I think he would of done really well with the 49ers!
|
Gabbert will be starting soon
|
If no one offers him a starting job, he would be a great back-up in Baltimore. Especially since Tyrod just got injured.

I jusr can't see him not competing for a job. I know I said I wih he would come to KC, but I think the real possibilities are Miami, Oakland(please no), Seattle, or San Fran. |

WE NEED HIM! If Cassel gets hurt....if....more like "when" he gets hurt, Palko could make Brokie Croyle look like Joe Montana in his prime. |
