Well AP certainly seems to have great work ethic! I hope he comes back to full health and fully believe he will!

Welker's ability is also not reliant on his ability to make dynamic/sudden cuts and therefore puts a lot less on his ankles/knees/tendons.

Gore only tore his acl but welker tore both his acl and mcl. The mcl tear really isnt a big deal as you wouldnt need surgery for it if it was only your mcl.

Idk, but too me Welker is still a dynamic player who will make people miss and is still totally elusive. He still cuts, stops on a dime and has the same explosiveness as before! If I were AP I'd be on the phone calling him, or if I were Welker I'd call AP and give some support.

I hate the Vikings, but I truly hope that AP comes back from this better than ever. I would hate to see him return as a shell of his former self. I feel he was well on his way to becoming one of the greatest ever.

The one ligament in your knee you don't want to tear is the PCL, if that one goes, goodbye explosion. MCL tears are the most painful, but require no surgery.

AP has a torn ACL and no cartilage damage (which is huge, means less scar tissue and bone rubbing in the knee, which will shorten your career, just ask Earl Campbell), these surgeries are getting more an more routine too, so he'll probably be back in plenty of time for next season.

This is completely inaccurate and that's all that need be said.

No kidding, WR's (especially one's that run in a West Coast Style Offense) need to make very sudden and dynamic cuts on the field when running routes.

It's not completely inaccurate...maybe it is a bit over-stated, in that I should have said not AS reliant, but I still hold steady that Wes Welker and Adrian Peterson are not accurately comparable cases.

However, like others have said, I really, really hope AP comes back to form, as it would be a football tragedy to loss a player of his talent.

IMO, Jamaal Charles is better than...

Foster: No, but damn close.
MJD: Yes
Rice: No, but only because of his REC stats.
Turner: Yes
McCoy: Yes

Just my opinion...

AP: Get better soon. The BEST RB in the NFL will be missed greatly if this is how his career ends. He gave the fans some fantastic years, and hopefully more.

During Frazier's presser about 10 minutes ago it was made official. AP suffered a torn ACL and MCL, however the PCL is in tact as well as the meniscus. He will have surgery in 7 to 10 days, however the doctor has yet to be determined. Hopefully is will be James Andrews!

That is good. He will be fine.

BTW Andrews is a terrific surgeon but you have a knee issue you want to go see Freddy Fu in Pittsburgh. He prob does more ACLs a year then anyone in the world.

He's only 26...so his career is far from over. He'll definitely be back sometime next year... close to if not in his prior form. The only problem is he's been injury ridden his entire career, and nobody in their right mind can't say it isn't attributed to his violent running style.

Wish the best for him

I agree with him being young and that he will be back. As far as violent running styles, he does have that kind of style; however, I don't agree that he gets injured, because of that style. Those injuries, specifically his two worst ones (collar bond in college in the end zone and his recent one) would have happened to any offensive player with any running style. Will it take a toll on him, eventually sure.

You're right, they aren't comparable; Welker is MORE dependent on cutting and lateral movement than Peterson. Welker is the prototype for a slot WR that makes all the CUTS to run perfect routes. Peterson too needs to cut, but not on every play. He gets a chance to barrel straight ahead and look for contact. Welker has to cut to lose the DB to grab the pass or elude the safety coming for his head.
All of that said, I too wish Peterson a fast and smooth recovery. Unfortunately, I think like Welker, it'll be until 2013 before he's back to form. Welker played last year, but not up to his typical form. He's obviously back to form this year, so there's plenty of hope. Although I think his card prices will drop in the meantime and create a buying opportunity for those interested.

With the third pick in the 2012 NFL draft, the Vikings select Trent Richardson.

Good analysis and I agree with Welker being more dependent on his knees than AP. Well if his cards do drop I'm first in line! Anyone selling?!
