First auto was some random pitching prospect from one of the 4 Sport product in the mid 90's, still have it in a binder.

Also, did anyone else try and keep their wrappers in pristine condition and hold onto a few from each product? I found a box in my parents basement last summer and it had to have 200-300 empty wrappers neatly inserted into a shoebox case.
My Pops use to keep a wrapper and put it on front of any of the sets he put together. I can remember the wall of 1994 UD Football boxes. He most have had 20 sets, and each 500ct. box or whatever it was had an empty pack taped to the front. I think it worked great at the card shows. Something better to look at than just sharpie. But back then we use to make a killing on the common boxes.

When I used to help the neighbor out with yard work as a kid, he would by me the current Topps Baseball set. Think I have most of them from the 80's.

Buying myself, and become addicted wasnt until much later. I fell in love with 1998's UD3 football, and busted box upon box of that. Then moved to SPx Finite the same year.....

Still have a 3000 card box full of those cards.....

2004 Topps Football from the Pro Football Hall of Fame. From that point it was on. I have never even thought about stopping collecting. getting boxes and packs is sort of a thrill if you think about.

Mine was 1984 Topps Football Rack Packs. I use to get one of them on Saturdays when I went to the grocery store with my mom instead of a candy bar. In 89 I started collecting again when Score was released. (long pause) Then in 2001 I opened 4 packs of Upper Deck MVP and pulled a Ivan Rodriguez batting glove auto 25/25, the next day I pulled a Upper Deck Shawn Green jersey card. About a week later I pulled a 2001 Upper Deck Babe Ruth bat card /1936 if I remember correct. I have been hooked ever since but now I only collect football.

1973 Topps Baseball for me. I can still remember the excitement of going to the grocery store and begging for a dime so I could buy a pack of cards. Today you need to beg for a bank loan to buy a pack of Exquisite.

It's kind of a shame that kids who get say a $2 allowance for a pack of cards only get a pack of Topps or something today. But then again, there was a lot of junk from about 1985-1995 so a lot of retail really isn't in favor of kids right now.

My first pack few packs:
1983 Topps Football---pulled a Marcus Allen Rookie & Rookie Sticker (I still have these cards...lol)
Same here, same pack and pulled a Marcus Allen Rookie. Still have it but not in great shape. I think it would be except for the thick rubber band I put around the cards as a kid.

I collected magic cards at the time, it was a baseball card store that had packs of magic aswell. I thought "why not" and bought a $1 pack of 2002 series 2 topps. all I remember is that I got some A-group star auto that the owner let me trade for 20 dollars in magic packs...

Wow, a lot of 1979ers in here. Me too.

1979-80 OPC hockey. Wayne was the third card in, I still have it. I was disappointed there weren't any Canadiens or Islanders in the pack. We complained and complained how we couldn't get U.S. edition cards on a New York base, and all we could get were the old packs (it was 1982), but it turned out alright.

My first ever box was a 2006 UD Football.

I dont remember my first pack. Probably a retail pack from target or wal-mart like 5 years ago.

1986 Topps Baseball. Used to keep them in a grocery sack. Didn't realize condition was such a big thing until the following year. 1986 was a good year to learn that rule anyway (Topps anyway)
