What was your first pack/packs of cards??

I figure this would be a interesting thread to find out everyones "introduction" into this "ADDICTING" Hobby. It also brings back the memories when you pulled a insert card (ProSet Santa Claus, SuperPro, Payne Stewart) or a favorite players "base card" and it just made your day!! Inserts were everything back in the day...lol I remember it like it was yesterday. If only my dad knew what buying me a few packs would turn into....MAN!

My first pack few packs:
1983 Topps Football---pulled a Marcus Allen Rookie & Rookie Sticker (I still have these cards...lol)

Wow, I have no clue what my first pack was. I do know that my first box was 1989 Pro-Set though.

Mine was 1993-94 Fleer Ultra. I got a Shaq scoring Kings card. I remember back in the day the BV was $100.00. Not sure it is even 1/3 of that now.

My first hobby box was a box of 2001 Topps Gallery Baseball I got when I was 15. I was smart enough to set aside the Albert Pujols rookie I got out of it, and I also received my first "hit" ever in that box. It was a Jason Kendall bat card. Obviously not much, but at the time, a big deal to me!

1985 Topps BB. I miss how at the end of the season between 86-89 Walmart would put all the remaining packs on an end cap for .05 each.

That just made me cringe........I have a feeling you were not the only one based on the condition of most of the 50's cards.

First pack was 1991 Topps Baseball first favorite card Chipper Jones Topps RC been a Braves going on 15 years.

My first was either 89 Topps or UD. My first full box was 90 or 91 ProSet. The one that had like 50 packs with 36 cards in each Think I had a few of the Frank Thomas no name error cards from '91 (think it was '91). First auto was some random pitching prospect from one of the 4 Sport product in the mid 90's, still have it in a binder.

Also, did anyone else try and keep their wrappers in pristine condition and hold onto a few from each product? I found a box in my parents basement last summer and it had to have 200-300 empty wrappers neatly inserted into a shoebox case.

1984 Topps Football - still have the first few packs I opened. Back in the day when cards were cheap, cardboard and massed produced!!!

1984 Topps Baseball. Out of those I still have the Mattingly and Strawberry RCs. Those were pretty hot back in the day.

My first pack was probably 1980 Topps but my first cards came from collecting box tops of Kellogs and sending them in for the 1979 set (3D Superstars)... which I still have the majority of today

58-59....man if you only knew then what you know now....lol Of coarse it was still fun. I think i started putting the cards in the spokes with 87 topps baseball! I couldn't imagine the flashbacks i'd have if it were a 58-59 topps product!!! lol

The box that got me into the hobby for good and got me hooked was a box of 2004 Topps All time fan favorites. Pulled 2 decent autos...sold em on ebay and used the $$$ to buy more boxes lol. haven't stopped since

Patrick, That is funny I use to do the same thing and keep the wrapper from every brand I would buy. I did it for a couple years and have probably 300-400 different packs and added up how much I had spent and was sick to my stomach and ended doing that.

My first pack was an 87 Topps baseball pack and was lucky to pull a Jose Canseco and my dad made me put it away because of how much it was worth. I know I still have the card but my next card purchase off ebay will probably be that card in a PSA 10 just to have the memories of that single card getting me hooked on this hobby.
