Default football - 2012 Topps Inception Football (6 cases)

I opened 6 cases of 2012 Topps Inception Football on Wednesday, July 11th. Nothing is for sale here. Everything from the break is, or will be soon, for sale on my eBay store. I will not end auctions early for any price. Once I have final sales results, I will post that information here.

I was in a rush to get these up on eBay, so I don't have a case by case breakdown of what I pulled. I just have some scans (below) and some general notes about the product.

I will post sales results here once I have them. All auctions end on or before Thursday July 19th.

Notes:
  • No extra hits or shortages in my 6 cases, always 7 cards per pack (56 per case)
  • Chipping on the edges and corners is there, again, this year. However, I did open 12 cases last year, and the 6 I opened this year were better than last year. Some cards have zero problems, then 90% have very minor problems, and less than 5% actually have problems that make the card annoying or ugly
  • Last year, the top RC auto's were SP'd, I think the highest s/n Cam auto was /50. This year Topps stepped it up and made those top RC auto's easier to pull at /150. They are still tough pulls, but not nearly as bad as last year in my opinion
  • Just like last year, it's a very heavy ROOKIE FOCUSED product.
  • Not sure what else to say about it... it's very similar to last year, but in my opinion it's better due to easier top RC pulls and better QC. (at least in my cases)

Interesting, do you go big like this at several products or just a few?

I did two cases, I am taking a bath. It was a fun break, but the value wasn't there for me.

I always do at least 3 cases of a product, often more than that. And I'm on pace this year to busting 15-20 different products in this way, mostly football and basketball.

That is correct, no RG3 auto or memorabilia cards in the 6 cases I opened.

However, the Luck and RG3 auto's are easier pulls than Cam from last years Inception. The easiest Cam pull from last year was green /50, whereas both Luck and RG3 have blue /150 versions as well as green /50, red /25 and so on.

But that is assuming there is the same amount of 2012 as 2011. There may be 20% more Luck/RG3 autos, but if production went up 25%, they are tougher pulls.

Nice breakdown as always, I got lucky with my case and pulled a Luck /25, Hill /25 and one of those awesome jumbo patch /4. You seemed to do above average as well. Those jumbo patch /4 look nice!

You are totally right, I overlooked that fact.

I'm curious, has anyone estimated a case print run based on the pull odds on the boxes?

It says there is one blue base parallel per box, those are /252 I believe. 100 players in the checklist so 252*100 is 25200. So that would mean 3150 cases if there is exactly one of them in every box and no more. I'm probably wrong though, it wouldn't surprise me lol

Your math looks correct to me.

And last year, the base blue parallels were also about 1 per pack (8 per case), yet those were only #'d to /209. The checklist was also 1-100, and so last year I estimated only 2612 cases of Inception.

If the estimations are correct, that would mean Inception case print runs are:
- 2011: 2612 cases
- 2012: 3150 cases
That's a 22% increase in production from 2011 to 2012.
