Default NFL Could Start Season with Replacement Refs

Amazing...you never realize how valuable Ed Hochuli is until he's not there. lol

I got a kick out of the umpire placing the ball on the college hash mark last night.

Then the ref didn't know how to turn his mic on:

Nice job too on ESPN where they placed it as a touchback after it was downed on the 4 yard line.

When watching the Packer game on Thursday, Mike Turico (sp?) wouldn't STOP harping on the refs. Every little mistake sounded like the end of the world.

I don't blame the replacement refs for this. They are doing the best they can in the situation they are put into. At least give them a chance to get their feet wet... it was the first game of the year!

The bad thing is that it's not just about money. The NFL has locked out the refs and want changes like making them full time, adding more and new refs so they can interchange crews, have vet refs work with refs who are making mistakes etc.

This is just crazy. It will only cost each team $100,000 per year to get the REAL refs back.

That is about like $5 to you and me.

It certainly is not the fault of the replacement refs that they suck. They got thrown into the situation pretty much out of thin air. Only thing that ticks me is that people get pissed about calls the REAL refs make and now we have these problems getting them to come back...hopefully a deal gets done. Pardon my ignorance but what two sides are apart on this? The Refs and the NFLPA or the Owners or what? I hope they can get it done before the season starts!

It's the refs and the NFL the owners and NFLPA have nothing to do with it. The refs have their own union.

I haven't read it but it was the first thing I found on a Google search:

Just another few reasons these replacement refs can't get it done in the regular season:
