Default Is this guy's auction going to screw up my final price?

I am selling a RG3 finest auto /15

2012 Topps Finest Robert Griffin III 3 RG3 Red Refractor Auto Autograph RC 2/15 | eBay

It's currently at 610 with over a day left.

There is another one like it with a BIN/BO for $750:

ROBERT GRIFFIN III 2012 Topps Finest AUTO 14/15 #120 True Rookie Card RG3 | eBay

he just put a ceiling on my card, nobody will bid above that, they will just go buy his. Should I suggest he raise his BIN or is that out of line?

I mean non auto /25s are going for well over $100, a /10 non auto went for 600.

I would say people will stop bidding on your card around 730-740 and start giving his a best offer rather than bid your card. So yes i would say thats going to mess your sale up if they see it.

Maybe. Maybe not. I've seen several auctions go over a BIN price. Some people search auctions only. Some just like the thrill of bidding. I wouldn't worry to much.

I would not worry at all. Buyers on Ebay do not like BIN/BO pricing for the most part.

Somebody will buy his if yours gets up to that point, but that leaves all the other guys fighting to grab it, and will not worry about what another sold on BIN. When you have a low numbered card, there's no such thing as a set ceiling. People will bid regardless of what other copies have sold for since it's in short supply.

you would ask a stranger to raise their price so you can make money? wow
and it doesnt matter as people either do auctions and dont do bin/bo
or the do bin/bo and no auctions. i supercollect so i have to do both

DAYUM, I'd be over the moon at $610 (as long as I got paid) and not worry about someone else. If anything, if it sells before yours ends, that'll just make bidders more desperate for yours.

You're good, just relax.

Not always. I've seen it both ways. I would say an auction starting at .99 generally gets more interest but I've sold numerous cards through BIN/BO $20-$30 higher than an auction for the same card that ended around the same time. Also if it's a player like let's say Brian Leonard you may do better in a BIN since there are a limited number/if any collectors.

I know a lot of people that would rather have a BIN/BO because they don't want to wait around the length of an auction.

Many people overbid their intended maximum when they join 'the game.' Auctions create an adrenalin rush. The more people who enter an auction and get hooked the better for the seller.

On the other side, as a buyer I try to push the price high early to weed out people who may end up driving the price up once they get hooked.

Simple economics has a stake, but also human tendancies and psychoanalysis.

OP dont worry, most people when they search they block out the BIN and only view auctions. The last few Oscar taveras bgs 9.5/10 refractor autos ended at 250, 250 and 268...There's one that has been up for a BIN at 227.00 for two weeks now, and no one has touched it, why? Because most people will only do auctions and they don't shop around for cheaper BIN's. I think you'll be fine. If the bidding gets close to 750 on yours, only one person can buy that other card anyway, than yours is up for a bidding war.

Or the opposite. Sold this card this morning for 24 delivered as a buy it now

Brandon Lloyd 2011 National Treasures Auto #'d /27 New England Patriots WR | eBay

There is another for sale up now that was cheaper delivered

2011 NATIONAL TREASURES BRANDON LLOYD NFL AUTO 22/27 | eBay

Some buyers simply don't care about bottom lines

I got screwed on my Darvish Museum Collection with a situation like this, you have a couple people with decent BIN/BO and then someone undercuts it by $400 and sells it immediately, now the market is set.
