Donte Stallworth suspended for the season

The NFL has suspended Donte Stallworth for the 2009 season.

Any other outcome would have been surprising. Some want Commissioner Goodell to suspend Stallworth for life after his felony manslaughter guilty plea, but that seems unlikely. Stallworth probably won't ever play for the Browns again, and his age and talent level don't guarantee that he'll get a job next year anyway, assuming he's reinstated. Aug. 13 - 10:03 am et

Well he is reinstated as of the day after the Superbowl, but who's gonna take the chance with this fool. Not to mention he sucks at football!!!

Great move by Goodell...I still kinda quiver over the fact that the family took a financial settlement if it led to the reduced sentence though...Money cannot replace a friend or family member.

well if i did what he did, i would lose my job completly.

these athletes do what alot would love to do. if they screw up i dont feel bad for them one bit

but he still gets to come back ? incredible.......

I don't get how Stallworth can come back after a shorter period of time then Vick, even though Stallworth killed a person, and Vick killed dogs???

And he was drunk while driving the vehicle that killed the man...

I didn't see this, and obviously still doesn't make it okay but here's how the reduced sentence went down:

"Stallworth didn't receive a longer jail sentence for his crime as a result of the prosecutor's determination that the victim was also at fault for his own fate. Florida law looks for all factors that might have caused the accident and doesn't exempt the victim in that calculation".

I guess the main factor is that he wasn't in the crosswalk. The financial settlement with the family was also part of that. Again, I still think he should be put away for awhile, but I hadn't seen this part of the case before...

Well it was sort of a non-surprise since authorities kept refusing to release security footage or some such nonsense. Apparently, it shows the victim putting himself in danger... I dunno.

Trust me if your poor and can get a few million bucks for a family members death, you'd do it...

and the guy ran out from nowhere for no reason 2 seconds before Stallworth hit him...it's the guy who got hits fault, even if Stallworth was sober he would've nailed the guy...that's what the jury said when they saw the video of the incident

I find it hard to believe he has not helped them out before now, but what can I do about it? Nothing...

Stallworth is suspended from the NFL for 1 year,Vick is not,he did prison time,which is NOT a league supension

Vick was suspended before his trial, there was not a set date until last month.
