Default 2012 Topps Platinum - Rack Pack, Blaster, or Hobby?

I've seen the hobby breaks and they look downright ugly for the most part. Let's just say winners are very few and far between. At this point is it better to just pick up some rack packs or blasters if buying this product? Are the patch autos in retail?

it's better to bypass it totally probably unless you just want to collect some cards & waste money.

I understand the argument about a hobby box not being worth the money but that doesn't mean the same amount in retail is worth it.

the market really isnt' there for the cards this year honestly, in my opinion people are going to lose when breaking this stuff. too many case breakers etc.

So basically it sounds like this product, the way it's overproduced for the price it's at, is just a dog, period. Way to ruin a promising brand Topps.

Definitely not hobby.

I bought 2 boxes and when your hits include an auto of Jacory Harris, whose NFL claim to fame is 10 days on the Eagles practice squad in May...it can be rather soul crushing.

Three of my four on card autos were undrafted players. Makes a bad Finest box look beautiful, if not for the checklist alone. Couldn't find anyone in the top 7 rounds, Topps? Sheesh.

IMO, it depends on if you like the retail orange paralels, if you do, retail is a no-brainer. Price pack ends up being cheaper for retail with the rack packs, but it is really hard to get a decent player patch from hobby anyway, so if you are opening for a set, go with retail for sure. I'm done with hobby for sure. In my area, hobby boxes are around $100 (24 packs, so you are basically $4 a pack) Retail racks are $9.48 for 3 packs plus 3 orange RC refractors. How many of these orange refractors did they make is the question?

Retail is probably the "best" bet, rack packs I mean. The 3 oranges are nice (Luck/RGIII going for 15-20) And a decent chance at an auto. Plus you still get a rookie per pack.
